This is what our Christmas looked like…
After we opened gifts, we drove to Abilene and celebrated with our family. The girls stayed a few days in Abilene and Trey and I headed back home Christmas night.
Trey did it again, he hit a home run getting me a great gift. He got me a Ninja blender. It's been at least 8 years since we've had a real blender.
My favorite smoothie is the one above. It has blueberries, almond milk and almond butter.
My favorite dip to make is mango salsa. Come on over and I'll make us some!

I Have Sweet Friends
This past week, Chey was sick, well Wednesday I came down with a head cold, chills, fever and an ear infection. On top of all that Dakota started coughing.
Being sick is tough.
I committed to filming a wedding, so yesterday, I sucked it up and made it through a 13 hour work day. I woke up that morning with high hopes, since I was feeling somewhat normal, but as the day progressed, my condition got worse. My voice was shot, I had to scream just for people to hear me -- which wasn't really a scream at all - it was more of a whisper. My ears were popping, and my throat felt like it was bleeding and throbbing. I could go on and on and say how horrible it was, but instead I'll turn my focus on the positive stuff, like today how my friends from church bought me goodies, when they heard I was not feeling well.
My friends Dan and Kristin brought me homemade chicken broth and Elderberry Syrup.
Rosa, my friend who watches the girls made Dakota and I cinnamon flavored water. Dakota loves this stuff. Oh, and Krista and Casey took Cheyenne to church today. My friends are the best!
Going back to Saturday ---
During the day, I tried to keep my energy up, by eating some quick snacks.
This was me at the wedding reception. All smiles, trying to smile my pain away. Smiling and being positive did help, some....I'm glad to be home and resting up. Night. Night.

When it's a Billion Degrees Outside, Find a Shaded Park
Yesterday, I took the girls to the park. We're crazy, right? Maybe not, we found a shaded park.
Even though it was burning up, it was a gorgeous sight.
Chey rode her bike, while Dakota and I played in the shade. By the way, Chey dressed herself and Dakota. Somebody is ready for football.
Later, we went home to clean. Dakota was like…."NO, I'll watch."
Now, the girls are in Abilene for the rest of the week, visiting with family. Earlier, they went shopping with Nana.
Ft. Worth people, I tried a new pizza place called Patrons Pizza. It's near Ridgmar Mall. It's soooo good!!! Our whole family ate there for under 21 dollars. It's a buffet and the pizza is extra thin and super crunchy! Trey didn't like it because the sauce had onions in it. What does he know??? I loved it!!!

2 Year Old Wellness Check-Up
Monday, I took Dakota to the doctors office for her 2 year old wellness check-up. She weighs 30 lbs.
There were two things I wanted to talk to the doctor about.
1. Several people have asked me, "Have you talked to her doctor about the way she walks?" I'll admit it, Dakota is bowlegged, but it's never been a concern to me. I went ahead and mentioned it to the doctor because like I said people have asked me about her walking like I should be concerned…. and I didn't want to feel like I was being dismissive, even though I felt like her walking/legs are totally fine. The doctor examined her and said, she should grow out it as she gets older, but no nothing is wrong with her legs/bones.
2. The second thing I mentioned to the doctor was about her eczema. When she has a bad breakout, she becomes so irritable and I can tell she's in pain and I can see she's in pain! The doctor prescribe some medicine and also recommended Cetaphil as an everyday moisturizer.
Dakota, my 2 year old.
TV Favorites: My Little Pony and Dora
Favorite Movie: Frozen
Favorite Snack: Fruit Snacks (gummies)
Favorite thing to wear : Frozen PJs
Hey so this is random, but if you pulse cauliflower in a food processor, you get a rice like texture. I love this so much!!! You should try it. Sprinkle some seasoning, lime juice and cilantro --- mmmm, so good!

What Your Taste Buds Say About You
My favorite daytime show is ABC's The CHEW. I like watching it, when I run on the treadmill or I'll have it on, in the background when I edit. The last episode I watched was about taste preference - salty or sweet...
If you like SWEETs...
If you like Salty...
Or if you like both!

What's your taste preference???
I'm honestly obsessed with the salty and sweet combo. My favorite indulgence is dark chocolate morsels with salty pretzels. Now, I want some!

Our Weekend Looked Like This
Trey surprised the girls and got them a WiiU. We spent the weekend playing family games.
Sunday, Dakota was running a fever, so we decided to stay at home. Chey was excited to play with her make-up kit. Guess, who got a makeover?
Oh, I finally got a GoStack.

Las Vegas Pt 1 of 3
Hi! I'm back from Las Vegas. My flight landed last night. I have the rest of the week off from the office. However, I have freelance projects, so I won't exactly be relaxing the next few days. I thought I'd give you guys 3 entries about my Las Vegas adventures. Part 1 and 2 will focus on the Vegas nightlife, hanging out with Jeri and part 3 will focus on the NABShow conference.
Sunday, I woke up at 4 am to catch a 7:55 am flight. I got to Vegas around 9 am. I spent my entire day at the conference. Jeri was scheduled to land in Vegas like around 10:30 pm or something. We had already decided that when she got to the hotel, she'd drop off her bags and then we'd go out for drinks. Well, she ran into delays. She got to the hotel at 11:50 pm, but that didn't stop us from hopping on the monorail and going to the strip. Our first stop was at a pizza shop and then the sprinkles ATM.
When we walked through the Bellagio, a club promoter gave us free tickets to The Bank nightclub. By the time we got back to our hotel it was 3 am!!!! My eyes were bloodshot because I had barely got any shut eye! That night, I only got about 2 hours of sleep. Every intention Jeri and I had of running went out the window. Spoiler alert: we didn't run one time, while we were in Vegas. But we wore tons of sparkles, so we were fine!!
Monday, I had a decent break, from the conference, so Jeri and I ventured to the Bellagio Cafe.
That night, we didn't really have any plans lined up, but we were both exhausted. We had planned on napping before going out….that didn't happen. And Jeri was too busy that day hanging out by the pool to fit in a nap (vacation problems). So, instead of napping, I laid on the hotel bed for 20 minutes with my eyes shut. They needed to rest! We ended up going to the Cosmopolitan.
It was our favorite casino! Super sleek.
Jeri was dressed in sparkles so she got a ton of compliments on her dress. She looked amazing!
I almost forgot, before heading back to the hotel we went to Serendiptiy!
Mmmm, it was yummy!

My Days in Photos
My Days in Photos...AKA Photo Dump
Now that it's spring, I enjoy running around campus.
Earlier this week, my sister Amy and Angelica stopped by for dinner and brownies. I made enchiladas and the girls made the brownies.
Everywhere I go, I watch Frozen. UTA is going to host a Frozen sing-along. Sounds like fun!

My First Attempt at a Paleo Pot Recipe
I have a crockpot. I use it often, but it's mainly for making one recipe. It's really not even a recipe, so I'm not sure why I'm calling it that...it's just pinto beans. Add water. Add dry beans. Boom, dinner!
I'd like to use my crockpot more often and add some variety. Monday, was my first stab at trying a paleo pot recipe.
This is what I made, Stuffed Pork Chops with bacon, green apples, and pecans. I can't believe this golden recipe has been sitting in my Pinterest for over a year.

I never grabbed a photo of the end result
1. Because crockpot photos never really look appetizing. Am I right?
2. Because it was too yummy for me to stop and take a snapshot.

The stuffing is the bomb.com. I would make this recipe again and again, the only thing I'd change is, I would probably add a little bit of water and add an extra onion or two. Here is the full recipe from Paleopot.com.
Dakota loved the meat.
Chey ate it, but I could tell it wasn't her favorite.
Trey wasn't at home, if he was home I'm 100% positive he wouldn't have even tried it.

My Week in Photos
This weekend I had a video wedding opportunity…So, Friday night, I spent a few hours organizing and getting re-acquainted with my gear.

It was a fast evening of work. I documented the pre-ceremony and ceremony, that's it.

Earlier this week, the girls and I had a picnic at Sams Club. That's normal, right?

Packed lunches, from home. We got a few stares, but people seemed mostly amused with this princess.

Speaking of food. Ladies night! Soup Night!

This dog tried to adopt us. He sat outside our home for 24 hours. Sorry, pup. Wrong house.

I ran 19 miles with my new running friends! This was big weekend highlight for me. I can't wait to run with them again.

Sometimes I call Dakota Sassy-Pants.

Here she shows her sweet smile.
Trey's eye a few days after his operation. Notice how the pupil on the right side is itty-bitty. That's whole lot of blue.

I love my city. This was another view from our hotel room.

Cheyenne loves staying at hotels. She says she likes the all the family time.

She found a hiding spot, under the night stand.

One last photo of the TBT float.

Quick lunch. Dakota loves black beans.

Dakota's new fashion. Blanket round the neck.

It's time to break out the Christmas outfits….
And the Christmas decor! More to come tomorrow….

My Week in Photos
This past week, my weekly training was right on target, but my long run was not as long as I wanted it to be. I'm hoping to have a better long run weekend, coming up. Thursday, I added cross training to my schedule. In addition to running, I rode a few miles on the bike and 3 miles on rowing machine.

My Week in Photos the late edition:
Last week, was ladies night out. My sister, Natasha won this handmade wreath. It was a door prize drawing. Instead of taking it and hanging it at her apartment, she let me borrow it. It's sooo massive.

I took "my famous" banana pudding to share with the ladies. We had leftovers. Tasha help me buckle it in the car. We wanted to make sure it got home, safe to Trey. Sad thing is, he never got any -- we ate it before he could eat the leftovers. Sorry. I made him another batch this week, so he would stop crying.

Chey in the kitchen, while I was meal prepping for the week.

Grocery shopping with the girls.

We are getting so close to Halloween. We thought it was time to bust out Halloween clothes that Nana got us.

Occassionally, I buy Amanda and the kiddos donuts. They were pretty excited this morning.

Fill in the blank....
This girl is still not ____________!

I got some purple Cauliflower from Central Market. All I could think of while I was eating my salad was -- Go TCU Frogs!

More food related images. The kids made apple pie this week. Chey brought some home to share with us and ended up eating most of it. I don't blame her, it was delicious!
Sleep Before Food. I'm the opposite. I'll wake-up just to eat.
For several years my ice machine stopped working. A few months ago, Trey wiggled the ice box around and all of a sudden it started working again. STRANGE!
Earlier this week, the water dispenser started gushing out water and it wouldn't stop. Trey had to drag the fridge out and stop the line or something like that -- I don't know, I'm a girl. If I was home alone and that happen -- I would probably just scream.

Dakota needs to slow her arm rolls, she is growing too fast for me.

The girls sitting in the mudroom, playing

This is the time of year when sandals are on sale. I got a pair and since this is Texas, I should be able to wear them until December.

I'm now using this paleo bread recipe. It's delicious!
http://www.myprimaladventures.com/2012/05/gourmet-thin-crust-pizza.html

It's really dense and filling. One slice, goes a long way.

More yummy food, I've been eating this week. Lately, I've been on an arugula kick.
I took the leftover Paleo bread to Ladies Night. This was my dish, that I shared: Gluten-Free Chicken Meatballs with Tomato sauce from Trader Joes's, Arugula salad and Almond Meal (paleo bread).

I hope Trey got something for the girls

Check out Trey's spectacular view, on the plane.

My friends at EnduraLAB are bringing back weekly run group! I'm so excited! I ran with them Wednesday night near west 7th street. As a group we ran 3 miles and afterwards I ran one more. It's starting to get dark sooner.

Dakota is a cheese ball.
Trey watched them and put them to bed, while I was running.
This stuff is so freakin' good....

Why can't I just sit down and eat the entire can in one sitting? Why? Woe is me. Look, Dakota understands.
