How was your Thanksgiving? We spent it at home. Amy, Carlos and their baby joined us.
I was so happy that Trey bought the turkey and ham pre-made from Honey Bee Ham. All I had to do was make the sides and dessert. Thanks, Trey!!!!!

Our Thanksgiving 2013
Our Thanksgiving Day looked like this…
The first part of the day, we spent it with the Anderson's. Cheyenne helped Nana set the table. Lunch was delicious!!!

DJ spent the majority of the time sitting on the sofa. He fractured his leg at Cheyennes birthday party, poor guy.
This is why this girl isn't walking, yet…evyerone caters to her. My aunt brought her over a bag of toys to play with.
Mom did most of the cooking.
He was ready to dig in it. I think he was trying to eat himself into a food coma since Green Bay lost. The only game I cared about was the Dallas Cowboys game and they won.... so, yeah it was a great Thanksgiving!!

Happy Thanksgiving & Braving the Shopping Crowds
Happy Thanksgiving from Abilene!!! I forgot my USB camera cord at home (I'm so sad about that!), so here are some of my cell phone Thanksgiving Highlights.
Here are some baked goods mom made. Mmmm, food.

Shelly and I explained to Trey that selfies are out and butt selfies are in. He was trying to take one, it's harder than it looks. If you ever catch me posting a photo like this, please feel free to slap me and then call my momma.

Speaking of selfless…

My uncle JR drove from Victoria to spend Thanksgiving with us. He is my Mom's oldest brother. I think they could pass as twins.

The Anderson's, typically eat Thanksgiving meal around lunch time. This year, Trey's mom had lunch ready around 11:30 am and my mom had lunch ready around 3:30 pm. After eating and visiting with everyone, I wanted to go to Target to get an iPad mini for DA Video & Photo Services (and for play). So, I dragged some family members along. I stood in line with my niece Angelica for over an hour and a half, while my mom and aunt went shopping at the mall. My toes almost froze while I was waiting, but I walked away with my tablet. I think my boss is the best for getting me one! :)
This was the line that I stood in at Target (my niece Angelica was also with me)…there was roughly (I'm totally guessing here…) 100 people ahead of me. When I went inside, a few people were sprinting. I ran quickly to the Apple products line. I was about the 15th person in that line.

Meanwhile, Trey went to Sears and this was the line he had to wait in. I told him, nobody cares about Sears! He could have waited until they opened and got what he wanted. It's kind of hard to see, but that's Brandon with a thumbs up.

Turkey Trot - Race Photos & On the Mend
Race Photos are online. Notice the next picture, with the guy in the background holding an umbrella. It was cold and rainy. I was freezing before the race started, but once I started running, I was fine.

Yesterday, I got hit with a nasty stomach virus. The thought and the smell of food made me nauseous. I spent most of my day sleeping. I tried going to church, but Trey ended up driving me back home, so I could rest. Not going to church, missing my long run and the fact that I didn't finish my cup of coffee, yesterday - proves that I was ill. Today, I'm glad to be on the mend.

Thanksgiving 2012, in Abilene
We spent Thanksgiving in Abilene. We spent our first round at Trey's Parents house and then drove a few miles down the road to my mom's house for seconds. I love that both of our parents live in the same town.

Trey's mom was out of state, spending time with an ill relative (we missed her!), so Shelly (Trey's sister) played pilot and did a marvelous job. We ate right at noon, just like, she had planned and the food was great. My favorite was the mashed potatoes.

Jason, her husband helped out a lot too. He wasn't intimidated to be in the kitchen.

Did someone say butta?

While we were busy, prepping lunch, Trey and the birthday girl were busy cuddling.

Dakota spent at least an hour with Danny and Kathy, just being quite and starring off.

After lunch, we sang happy birthday to Cheyenne.

Happy Thanksgiving
Since I'm mobile blogging I'll make this short and sweet.
Greetings, from Abilene. I started my day with a nice 4 mile run around my in-laws neighborhood and then around 8 am, Trey drove me to shotwell stadium to run the 5k Turkey Trot. I raced it (as opposed to just running it). My unofficial time was 25:00.07. That's according to my watch. I'm still waiting for race results to be posted online.
The race was flat/fast. There were probably 5.5 quite spectators on the course, I guess everyone was busy either racing or cooking lunch. It rained, well more like drizzled the entire race. It was fine. I found Sherri and gave her a huge hug. She started the race later than me and finished about 4 mins before me.
After the race, I cleaned up and had two Thanksgiving lunches. Yumm!
Today, I'm thankful for running and family

Decisions. Decisions.
This past weekend, I got my hair trimmed. I asked for thick sweeping bangs and I ended up with this....
They are not as thick as I would like them to be, but whatever. I just need to get use to the idea of having stringy stands near my eyeballs. I feel like, I'm one step closer to feeling comfortable with the idea of having - all out forehead hair. The next trim I get, I'm 99% sure, I'm going to chop them! This is like the biggest decision of 2012, besides the election and all.
In seasonal news, Thanksgiving is tomorrow! Before I stuff my face, I'll be running the Abilene 5K Turkey Trot. My friend Sherri, is the one who encouraged me to run it. I'm still trying to decide if I want to race or run it.

Thanksgiving in Abilene 2011
We spent our Thanksgiving with Family in Abilene. Wednesday evening, we hit the road and faced bad traffic in Weatherford. We were hoping to have dinner with family, but the traffic held us up, so we just got food on the road. I want to say, we were on the road for three hours. I took this picture when our side of the road, cleared up, however you can see how bad the oncoming traffic is. That's what we had to deal with too.

Cheyenne was watching Tangled on my phone, Trey was listening to talk radio, so I entertained myself, by taking pictures of the car stereo. I should've conserved my camera battery because now it's dead and I forgot my extra pack and I have no charger. A photographers worst nightmare! I still managed to take a few photos on Thanksgiving.

It's a Kraft Recipe. Here it is, if you are interested in making it yourself. Super-Easy and kid friendly. And for the record my photo looks better than Kraft's. Boom!

Hilario and Bella were patiently waiting to eat. Notice the Cowboy Jersey. Represent!

Did anyone brave the Black Friday crowds? I did! I didn't do the 10 pm/midnight shopping. Actually, I'm not a fan. What is that --- a new thing? It's like opening all your Christmas presents on Christmas Eve, it just takes all the special out of Christmas Day. Do you know what I mean? Maybe it's a good thing, I don't know. All the die-hards were in bed by the time I got going, so maybe it was a good thing. Actually, the crowds were reasonable. Really.
Trey's mom and I started our morning with H-E-B coffee and La Popular breakfast burritos. Our first stop was Shoe Carnival and later we hit up the following stores: TJ Maxx, Old Navy, and Wal-Mart.
Notice how Mom and Nanny are matching....They said they didn't plan it....sure. Shopping Twins!

Around lunch time, I met up with the Trey and the rest of the guys. We ended up going to Game Stop, an instrument store and several pawn shops. The guys found a great deal on an electric guitar. I'm glad they found a deal, but for the most part, I think Pawn Shops are a rip off. Check out this old Apple iBook for $250. C'mon now, this is worth maybe $50 bucks. I would know, I have the same computer at home.
Cheyenne's first Black Friday. Today, all she kept saying was, "I want that. I want that." So, I can basically get her any toy and she'll be happy. In this photo she was holding a DS Nintendo Dora the Explorer game. While she was with me I did some of her Christmas shopping. Nana distracted her, while Trey and I bought her presents and took them to the car. We're so sneaky.

Okay, it's time to hit the bed. I've been awake since 5 am. I've been on my feet. I even went for a 6 mile run this afternoon. Oh, and afterwards -- Chey joined me for a cool down. She ran and walked about 0.75 miles. I think someone is almost ready for a 1 mile fun run!!!! Speaking of running --- Thanksgiving morning, I met up Sherri and a few Abilene Runners Club folks. We had our own little Turkey Trot.
Here is the most recent photo I have of Sherri. This was at Palo Duro 50K.
I ran 8 miles. For the first 3 miles Sherri forgot I was pregnant and we were running a 9 min. pace. I wasn't dying, but I wasn't having the time of my running life either. Sherri and her friend did most of the talking for the first few minutes, they probably thought wow, Dom is a great listener. Haha! Later, Sherri told me she felt bad for pushing the pace, because she remembered I was expecting. I was fine. The remaining miles were at a more relaxed/easy pace.

We are so blessed, we had two Thanksgiving meals. One meal from Trey's side of the family and another from my side. Here is my Mom busy in the kitchen. Frank and my Mom, recently bought this new house. They also announced they have set a date to get married. It'll be spring 2012. EXCITING! I know a photographer and videographer....Family Discount = free.

Our Thanksgiving with Friends
I've always wanted to have friends over for a thanksgiving dinner and last night, I finally did it. I started cooking at 2:30 pm and dinner was ready at 7 pm. Trey was doing his normal Sunday thing -- sitting on the sofa watching football. He asked me, "Do you need any help?" I answered, "No, you're doing exactly what you need to be doing." With that being said, he did help me clean up some of the mess before our guest arrived. So, thanks!

Mike, Erin and their two girls joined us for a Thanksgiving feast. Erin watches Cheyenne during the work week. Erin has been to the house numerous times, but this was the first time to have the entire family over for dinner. It was a real treat.

Before I started making anything, I called the expert, my mom and asked her for some turkey advice. The last two times, I made turkey she was with me...this time I flew solo. Thanks mom for answering all my questions. I was terrified, it wouldn't be ready in time and it wouldn't cook all the way through. But it turned out great.

A good portion of the meal was paleo friendly.
The Menu
Turkey
Paleo Stuffing
Holiday Yams
Broccoli Cauliflower Casserole
----Crowd Pleasers for Everyone---
Creamy Macaroni (Paula Deen Recipe)
Cranberry Sauce (The Can, Trey's Favorite)
Rolls (Whole Wheat Rolls, homemade by Erin)
Oreo Cookie (another homemade recipe by Erin)
All of the paleo recipes I got from Everyday Paleo. Here is my cheat sheet. I can say all the recipes I made are keepers. SERIOUSLY.

Paleo Stuffing - No, bread stuffing. I was cooking with chicken sausage, which I never use and I threw the sausage with the wrap in a heated pan. I wasn't sure if I could cook the wrapped sausage, so I had to grab it out of the pot and peel it off. I'm such a rookie.

Holiday Yams were surprisingly delicious. I usually prefer just salt and pepper on my sweet potatoes, but I have to admit it was fantastic with all the extras.

Erin made homemade Oreo cookies. So good.
What a great night! What are your plans for Thanksgiving? Lots of yummy food, I hope.

Thankful. Grateful.
I started the morning off with a 3 mile run. I've been taking it easy this week, since my right leg has been sore. Originally, I had planned on running the Abilene Turkey Trot, but decided last minute it wasn't worth it. I know how I am and if I pay for a race and especially if it's a small race, I will run fast and try to place. So, I played it smart and just ran a nice steady pace around my in-laws neighborhood. It was a cold run too.
The night before, I made several desserts and Jomi basically had everything ready, so it was a stress free Thanksgiving meal. Everything was delicious.
Again, Chey was not feeling the whole picture taking thing. She was crying because she wanted to hold the camera.

Chey wearing her Thanksgiving tee that Mrs. Erin got her: Everyone is thankful for me. Yes, we are. Yes, we are. Thanks for the tee Erin!

Jason and Trey hanging around the dessert table.

Chey with her cousin, Andy.

Dora made an appearance on the Macy's Day Parade. Could Chey be any closer to the TV?

Here is the cheesecake I made. Oh, it was good and it looks a lot better than the one I made last year. Every time I bake this cake I think of Linda. :)

Seriously.

Natasha wrangling my daughter

I'm thankful for my wonderful family.
