2013: A New Year. New Goals.

2012 was a big year for us. Dakota was THE best thing to happen to our family...
Dakota & Cheyenne

Dakota in a high chair
Another highlight was our family vacation to San Antonio. Originally, we wanted to take this trip before Dakota was born, but things don't always go according to plan. Nonetheless, it was a fun family vacation, party of four. Another highlight was Trey's promotion. I'm really proud of him. He's has an amazing work ethic and he inspires me to do more with my career (more on that, in a moment).

Financial Goals
Last year the idea was to save for a gym/game room addition for our house. Well, we had savings set aside, but then we paid for Trey's truck in cash. Merry Christmas, happy birthday, happy anniversary to him! And I suppose to me too, since I also bought a car. Here's to 2013 because I really really really want a home gym. At the moment, we have savings set aside, but we have a long ways to go. Hopefully by the end of the year or early 2014, we'll be pouring concrete for the room. I'm really being hopeful...

Career Goals:
2013 will be about getting serious about my small business. It's time for me to stop treating my freelance work, like it's a hobby. I'm terrified about expanding, but last year I had some amazing opportunities and clients keep coming back, year after year...so yes, it's the year to make this small business official. Soon, I'll open a separate bank account, to keep finances in order. If you are a small business owner, let's go out to lunch (my treat) and talk -- I need all the advice in the world.

Running Goals:
Last year, I ran Cowtown, when I was about 6 months pregnant.
Trying to stay warm at the start line
And a few weeks ago, I ran Dallas Half Marathon, 6 months postpartum.
Untitled
2013 Races:
1. Cowtown Half Marathon 13.1 miles (Feb)
2. Rockledge Rumble Trail Race 50K/ 31 miles (Nov)

Those are the two main races on my calendar. I'm not big on racing a lot of races. I like to pick a few and focus on them. I might run a few 5K's and 10K's, but the ones listed above are my main races.

Why Rocklege Rumble?
Originally, I wanted to run Palo Duro (Amarillo) for the second time, but I'm not sure I want to travel that far with Dakota. So, I did some research and found Rocklege Rumble. It's a local trail race in Grapevine aka North Shore. I will run the 50K, which is a little over 31 miles. I've ran the trail once, with EnduraLAB. I'd say the trail is semi-technical. I recall stumbling three or four times.
Northshore Trail Running
Dakota's birthday is in June and that's when I will transition her to cows milk. When that happens, I can be away from her from longer periods of time and I can start running longer than 2 hours at a time. If I wanted to, I'm sure I can do it now -- but it's not convenient. I'm estimating that in one day, it takes me 3 hours total to feed Dakota. I cherish that time with her, but at the same time it will be a relief when she transitions to solid food and cows milk. All the momma's out there know exactly what I'm talking about. Fall 2013, will be all about Ultra Running. I can't wait!!!! I've missed it.

Eating Right
What's a new year without talking about healthy eating?
As much as I want to get all serious about getting my postpartum figure back, my primary job is to eat enough to keep myself healthy and Dakota happy. With that being said, I need to eat more vegetables. That's my eating healthy goal for 2013. Vegetables. Vegetables. Vegetables.

Spiritual

Stick to a daily devotional/mediation time. If I have time to run, I have time to pray.

Here are a few of Trey's Goals:
Start Running
Run a 5k in November (Turkey Trot)
Eat Healthy

Do you have any resolutions??? I'd love to hear about them!

Going the Distance, All the Way to Canada

In 2010, I ran to Green Bay.
In 2011, I ran all the way to CANADA!
In 2011 I Covered 1,510 miles. I went to Canada!
If I decided to walk to Canada it would take me 19 days and 21 hours. No, thanks. I'll stick to logging my miles over the course of one year.
Walking would take 19 days 21 hrs
I need to start packing a bib for this girl. Typically, she's a clean eater, but not when it comes to spaghetti. And this girl can throw-down some Italian food. This picture was taken during our New Year's Eve dinner at Pizza Inn aka our new favorite place to eat.
The girls loves Italian food
Trey's birthday is in a few weeks. We walked the aisles of Academy and he pointed out items he would like. I think he was joking when he pointed out football gear. Right? He was joking, I think.
Trey wants this...I think he's joking, but I'm not sure
Cheyenne got a few color books for Christmas, so we've been spending quality time coloring in the evenings. Coloring is so therapeutic. She has the cheap-o crayons and a few name brand ones. I can tell a huge difference between the two. I know one of my resolutions is to buy more off brand items, but I think I'm going to have to make an exception, when it's time to replenish her crayons.

2012: A New Year & New Goals

Happy New Year to you!

Last night, we went to a buffet and I ate, like it was my last meal on earth. I'm actually quite embarrassed about the amount of food I consumed. Oops.

2011 was a great year for the Anderson's. I think the highlight of the year was when we took our first family vacation to Palo Duro. This year, I'm not sure if it will be possible for us to take another trip, since I won't have much vacation time to spare.
2011 Palo Duro 50K Trail Race
2012 Goals
1. Financial Goals
- Pay off the doctor bill before baby arrives. Have $ set aside to pay the hospital bill all at once.
- Cancel Satellite Service when football season ends.
- Buy more off brand/generic items. Cents add up to dollars.
- Add nothing to credit.
- Start saving to build a home gym/Game Room. Trey and I would like to close in the back patio. I don't anticipate starting construction this year, but we would like to start saving for it.

2. Go on a Trip with Trey before I have the Baby
- We already have hotel accommodations taken care of, now it's just a matter of deciding on the date.

3. Run/Bike/Swim 800 Miles this year
- Last year I set a 1,500 distance goal and I surpassed it, covering 1,510 miles. It wasn't easy. This month, I felt like all I was doing was running my butt off. I was so determined to reach my goal I was on a 12 day running streak. If  I run today, the streak will continue....

This year, since I'm pregnant and will take several weeks off from physical activity, I think 800 is within reach.

4. Eat Healthy
- One thing I learned from participating in the Paleo 30 day Challenege is that as much as I love the way grains, dairy, and legumes tastes, my body does not react well to them. This year, I will do my best to eat them sparingly and ease my way back into a paleo'ish lifestyle. Did you hear that pregnancy cravings? But trust me, I won't go all paleo natzi.

This was my first meal of 2012...I'm already off to a fantastic start and for lunch we went out with Katy and Chad and I had a chicken salad. Pat on the back --- right here.
First Meal of 2012

5. Spend more time reading Scripture and meditating
-I do best when I have a devotional/guide.

6. Less Snuggle Time with My Snuggie
- Remember that silly Resolution? I said I would spend less time getting cozy with it and more time getting cozy with Trey. Yeah, I need to work on that one...repeat resolution for 2012.
Cowboys Snuggie
Do you have any goals for 2012?
Trey's mom wants to walk a 5K this spring. That's pretty awesome, if you ask me.
Trey has no goals...he thinks they are silly. Psssh, goals who needs them?

Snuggie Confession-Resolution

Christmas 09 Trey gave me a Dallas Cowboys Snuggie. I didn't ask for a snuggie, I didn't want a snuggie, and honestly I thought they were dumb! But then something happened...I gave it a try and slowly, but surely I fell in love. MADLY.

I promise you, I sleep with that blanket every single night. It's something about the fleece or something that has me. I have a problem. Truth be told (as if I'm not), I think Trey is jealous of it. The snuggie gets more contact with me than he does. Recently, he's told me, "I should've never bought you that snuggie!" I think he's also threaten to burn it. Oh, somebody is mad.

My new years resloution is to spend less time cozying up with my snuggie and spend more time snuggled up to Trey. This photo was taken of me yesterday, cuddled up on the sofa, reading runners world, wrapped in my SNUGGIE.

New Year Resolutions

Happy New Year!

My Resolutions
1. Log 400 miles
2. Get Cheyenne on a consistent schedule
3. Maintain a healthy balance between work and home life
4. Take time out, everyday for myself

Trey's Resolutions
1. Eat more food
2. Log 365 miles (he wants to beat my 212 miles from last year)
3. Teach Cheyenne to walk

Two of those resolutions seem to contradict each other, but whatever. This morning I made a new exercise journal and Trey and I will both use it to jot down our work-outs. I don't write elaborate details, I just write down general info.

Example:
Treadmill 3 miles/45 minutes or Elliptical 60 mins.

It's amazing how a few miles every other day add up fast.

Well, good luck to everyone and their resolutions. I pray that 2009 brings you joy and happiness.
