Hello Wainscoting. I've Been Waiting for You.

Here is the latest, on the master bedroom remodel. About the color, we will most likely switch the orange with a gray type of paint. At least, that's what we're leaning towards. The wainscoting will be painted white. Sometimes, I feel like I should point out the obvious.

Trey still has to add some detail to the wainscoting, but you get the idea...

Originally, he had the columns wider and I asked if he would consider putting them closer. I'm happy with this distance.

Notice, how I'm only showing this side of the room. We Trey is still working on the other side of the room. He needs to get more MDF. That's all for now, I will update again when there is a significant update.

Missing Sissy and Bria

Cheyenne loves Erin's girls, Brianna and Mary Kate. When I showed her pictures of the girls, she got all excited and I had to capture it on camera.

Excuse my sleepy eyes, it was early.

5 Mile Long Run?

Okay this wasn't exactly a long run for me, but here is my weekend report:

Distance: 5.07 miles
Duration: 55:22
Average Pace Per Mile: 10:55
Weather: Cool and breezy. It was probably 76 degrees. Thank you, morning run.
Notes: Slow steady conversational pace

Linda joined me on this one. She has been dealing with an injury, but she managed to run the entire time. I'm really proud of her for staying strong. I could've kept going. Actually, I had planned on running a total of 10 miles that morning. I'm still dealing with stomach issues. It's really getting old. Yesterday, I had oatmeal with milk and I paid for it....Not exactly sure if the milk is the source of my stomach woes, but yesterday I was convinced. I use to hate milk, but since I got pregnant, I have really learned to love it -- now this.

A Work in Progress

Trey and Steve are responsible for this.....
Remodel of the master bedroom
Definitely, a work in progress. The guys were busy Saturday doing all the demo work and then spent most of Sunday working with the MDF.

I need to take more pictures so you can see the MDF on the wall. It was nice having help. Thanks Steve.

While the guys were laboring away, Linda and I were lounging. I have evidence. We watched a movie and I kind of felt guilty every time the guys would pass by. BUT...it wasn't exactly a lazy Sunday, we went for a 5 mile bike ride around the neighborhood. The ride was fun, hot, and hilly. It was the first time I got on a bike in years (2007). Since that ride, I've had the taste of triathlon in my mouth. Make it go away! I really need to stay focused on the task at hand; marathon training.

El Scorcho Cheerleaders

Saturday night around 11:30 pm, I met a few friends at the trinity trail and cheered for the running couple, as they ran El Scorcho 50K. We had glow sticks galore.

The race itself is madness! It started at 12 am and closed at 7 am. I stayed until 1:30 am.

Unfinished Business

About two years ago, we painted our bedroom and hoped to remodel it shortly after. Fast forward to the present and the project is still unfinished. Linda and Steve will be visiting this weekend and Steve plans on helping us start the project. Yay! I don't know our timeframe on this remodel...all I can say is we are starting this weekend.
Bedroom Before Remodel

Orginally, we thought about lining the walls with beadbord, but we've decided to go with wainscoting, instead. It's going to have a similar look as Cheyenne's nursery -- thick-craftsman-style-features.

Cheyenne's Room
The trim around the doors will be the same. The baseboards will also be the same. No chair rail in our room. We will also add a tray ceiling with about three levels. We've lived with orange paint on the walls for two years and we don't hate it, but then again we don't love it. I'm open to color suggestions....Our bedspread is a light green color. Okay, I will keep you posted on the progress.

Spent the Day at Home

Today, baby girl, had a bad case of diarrhea. On top of that she also had a terrible diaper rash. Early this morning, I was having a hard time getting her to drink water, eventually I offered her water in my running bottle and she drank it up. Personally, water tastes the same in whatever container you put it in, but apparently, to Cheyenne, it tastes better in a running bottle. I was just trying to keep her hydrated...

Ringlets

I use to hate my curls and it took me about 25 years to appreciate them. Middle School thru early adulthood I straightened my hair. I hope Cheyenne learns at an early age, to embrace her natural beauty. She is beautiful AS IS!

Work what your mommy gave you!

In Her Own Words

While I was cooking dinner, Cheyenne was playing in the living room. She started chatting in her baby babble and kept pointing to my P90X nutritional planner. I thought she was asking if she could look at it. Oh, that's so cute, she's asking for permission. So, I said, "Yes baby, you can look at that!" What I didn't know is that there was a pen nearby. She was asking if she could draw on the book. Since I gave her the green light, she sat on the couch and doodled for a minute or two before I realized what she was doing. Oy! At least she asked...

Later that evening, we meet up with Linda and Steve for a double date. What a wonderful weekend, blessed with friends and family. We couldn't ask for more. :)

Perhaps, My Worst Run to Date

Distance: 11 miles
Duration: 01:49:00
Average Pace Per Mile: 10:37
Temperature: Around 74 degrees.

11 miler
Recently, maybe in the last month, I've had stomach issues during my long runs. I don't know what the deal is. This morning was the worst it has EVER been. Around mile five, I started to get strong stomach cramps. The kind that make you want to stop in your tracks. I was stuck on the trail with a porta-potty four miles away. I should know better....

The last two runs I started carrying toilet paper with me, sealed in a ziplock bag for emergency's and guess what? The one time I actually needed it, I didn't have it with me! It sounds comical and gross, but this is the life of a runner....well, a distance runner. To make a long story short, I made it safely to the porta-potty. Big SIGH...

I never want to deal with that kind of dilemma ever again. It was terrible. I think dairy products may be the source of my bathroom woes, so I'm going to cut dairy out of my diet, the day before leading up to my long run.

Despite all that, I feel like I'm getting a little bit of my speed back. Yay!

So it Grows...

Here is a snapshot of the vegetable garden -- @12 Weeks

We're still enjoying plenty of basil, rosemary, mint and a few onions. The cilantro is pretty much done :(

What is up with my tomato plants? They are giants!
Garden @12 Weeks
CRAZY TALL! Even at this height, they show no signs of tomatoes.
Still no tomatoes
Look at the squash!
Yellow Squash
Next year, I'm not sure if I will replant squash. One, it takes up a lot of real estate and two it's harder to pull the weeds and grass around it -- since it's a type of plant that grows low to the ground, unlike tomato plants that grow-up. Honestly, this area of the garden scares me.

A Little Trip to the Pool

Yesterday, Erin took the girls swimming over at Chip and Amanda's. It was like a field trip!

Running + P90X = 1 Slow Runner

Just now getting around to posting my long run info.
Distance: 10 miles
Duration: Not really sure (User error on my part!)
Pace: Steady and Slow - Maybe a 11:00 minute pace
Temps: Around 78 degrees

My running pace has dropped significantly, since starting P90X. I usually run a 9:30 pace, but lately I'm running an 11 minute pace. I found this article that made me feel better.

Quote from P90X:"It's important to remember that while you're training for running, your speed will likely decrease. This is because you're creating muscular breakdown in order to improve your capacity to run faster later on. This means you'll be slower early in the program, but once your recover and convert your new strength into running speed, you'll be faster."

Last week, was the first week of P90X. Trey won't be following the program after all. His job is too demanding this time of year. Summer = busy Trey. Maybe by this fall, his work load will be more reasonable and then he can join me. He's still going to the gym.

What I've discovered so far:
The hardest part is finding time, especially when I have 2 a days scheduled. Finding the balance is key. Last week, I ran 24 miles --- on top of that I worked-out four times doing P90X. Whew! I will most likely add more rest days and possibly cut out P90X cardio during marathon training.

Straight From the Garden

Look what we have! I planted about six onions. This is the third one we've picked. I wish I had enough to share with all my friends. I'm already thinking about more real estate for the next garden. I'll probably add another raised garden bed, next spring.

Chopped Onions
Today, I tossed some onions in with scrambles eggs. It tasted great.

Best Bang for the Buck

If you've ever helped me cook in my kitchen you know my knives are a joke. Last week, Amy helped and she saw me first hand, as I struggled to slice a tomato!!!! Even when I sharpen them, they still suck.

At my last Sam's Club visit I purchased a Wolfgang Puck 6 Pc. Cutlery set for only 15.00 dollars!!! I'm accustomed to dull knives, so I guess it comes as no surprise, that I've already cut myself with this new set. I didn't hurt myself too bad - there was more blood than pain. So, yeah these babies are SHARP!

I love this set and highly recommend them. I saw the same set on amazon for 34.48, so I got a killer bargain. If you're in need of a knife set and don't want to pay an arm and a leg, check out your local Sam's Club. I'm not sure when this sale ends, but good luck.

Flashy Finger Nails

Yesterday, I was touching up my nails and Cheyenne stopped what she was doing to watch. She was completely intrigued with my nail polish so, I painted her nails. Check out her first nail job.\
