Jimmy Buffet...Who?

We have a visitor in town. Joel AKA Uncle Bubba. He's in town visiting and going to a Jimmy Buffet concert with Trey. When Bubba asked Trey to go a few weeks ago, Trey was like, "Who is Jimmy Buffet?" I know the name, but I had to look him up and then I recognized his famous tunes.

Oh, this morning when I was getting ready, Cheyenne got into my make-up.

Later, we headed to Chuy's Mexican Restaurant. I sat in the back with Cheyenne. Have you ever been in a Honda ELEMENT? I like riding in the backseat. It's cool how the seats sit higher than the front, it's like you're perched up looking over.
Back Seat Driver
Cheyenne, didn't care, she sits in the backseat all the time, it's nothing new for her.

Somebody Got a Makeover

If you are visiting this blog at the main site --  http://domandtrey.blogspot.com/ -- You can see this page has a new look. That's right, the blog is sporting a makeover. What do you think?

Quick Poll:
Do you (for the lack of a better word) physically visit blog sites? Or do you subscribe to the RSS feed and use google reader to stay up to date on what's going on in blog land?

This year, I started subscribing to my favorite blogs and I use google reader to keep up with my ever growing blogroll. But every now and then I go to the physical site to leave a comment and just to scope out the page. I added some new buttons to the sidebar, for those who prefer to subscribe or follow via RSS Feed.

One reason, really the biggest reason for changing to this new look is to accommodate larger photos. The old template I was using, limited my photo size. I want to showcase more photos within a larger frame. That's what's up!

(Insert, cool - yet random photo HERE)  NOW.

HEY! While I was looking for photos for the new header, I stumbled upon this photo. Trey's Senior Portrait, 2001 _ The boy I fell in love with.
2001: Trey's Graduation Photo
I'll probably do some minor tweaking to this page, but for the most part -- THIS IS IT. I hope you will have a better reading, photo and video viewing experience. I'm just trying to make it pretty on the eyes.

Garden Pickin'

My stovetop is still out of service. Trey has been meaning to get to it, but had some lame excuse like being sick and all....Just kidding. His excuse is valid. He stayed home today, so he's got to be feeling awful.

For meals,  we've been getting by on beans and veggies. Right about now, I'm starting to crave chicken fettucini and beef everything. Next week I may go on a protein/animal rage. Be on the lookout.

Everyday, I water the garden and pick it. I usually go for the herbs. I prefer to pick what I need, when I need it, rather than picking a bundle at a time to use over the course of several days. Why? Because I like to eat it fresh, plus the herbs wilt fast. Some of the cilantro leaves are doing this number...I think I'm suppose to cut it back when it does this. I have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to gardening. I'm learning along the way and that's what makes it so much fun.
Cilantro
Today, Cheyenne helped pick the grape tomatoes. We only picked four that where ready.
Hand picking
She's proud of this little fellow.
Almost too good to eat. Almost.
She wanted to eat all of them. I distracted her for a moment and she forgot I had one in my hand and before she could notice I ate it. What? She had three! We also picked a pepper and a bigger tomato.

What's the difference between a grape tomato and a cherry tomato? They look the same to me.

Room to Grow

The camera kit I purchased came with a camera bag. Originally, I thought ewww, ugly, I want something girly, pretty, stylish. Google Search: $$$ Kelly Moore Bags $$$

But, you know what? This camera bag, it's starting to grow on me. I think, I like it. Gulp, I'm in like with a bag.
Room to Grow
One reason is because I don't feel limited. This bag gives me breathing room. I have room to grow.
Room to Grow
It's got all kinds of cool pockets.

Room to Grow
Trey's mom and my sister, Natasha, helped me pick a Tommy purse. I will use this as an everyday camera bag. Seriously, nine times out of ten if you see me (assuming I'm not running), I will have my camera on me. I'm thinking about inserting padded-velco dividers. Does, anybody have experience doing something like that...I could use some guidance.

Items on my camera wish list:
1. 32 GB SDHC Memory Card
2. Spare battery
3. Macro lens
4. Battery Grip
5. Lens Hood
6. 1883 Lucchese boots. WAIT, that's another wish list.

Athlete's HoneyMilk™ - Spreading the Word

The day before Cowtown Marathon, Trey and I went to a HoneyMilk meet-up.
HoneyMilk™ Meet-up
I had an opportunity to try several drinks and take several cases home with me. For about a month or two, I drank it UP. Sooooo, good. The drink actually motivated me to work-out.
Athletes HoneyMilk™
So, I'm spreading the word about HoneyMilk heading to Colorado! I'm also doing this for a chance to score some free drinks. So, Colorado peeps and athletes everywhere...Check out the video! And if you want to enter the contest, take a stab at it.

Her Own Language

For the most part, Cheyenne speaks her own language. For example, when she wants me to pick her up, she'll say, HO-SHOE! I think she's trying to say, hold you.

Every now and then she'll say something and I have no idea what she's talking about. I can usally get by, if I shake my head in agreement, but it gets ugly when she trying to tell me what she wants. Then she repeats it over and over again, and that gives me enough time to process and translate.
On our way to visit family
In other news, I got a conformation email from the Palo Duro race director, conforming my participation in the 50K trail race this fall. Now, I need to figure out my training plan and how many weeks I want to train. This is when the running geek in me, gets excited. Sometimes making a training plan is almost as fun as training for the race.

I didn't blog about it earlier, but I did go on a trail run Saturday morning. It was gorgeous and I'm craving more. My plan is to take notes and get more familiar with the route. I don't want to run in and out  all the time. I would like to find a loop on the trail. It may be several weeks before I feel more confident on this route.

Handy Man Has Another Project

Last night, I was cooking dinner and I noticed the stovetop burner kept pulsing. It would go from dark red to off. It kept doing this, even when I turned the knob. Eventually, Trey had to flip the breaker and kill the power. It looks like Mr. Handy Man has a home project to do. He tried, fixing it this evening, but decided to wait until tomorrow.

With no stovetop, I decided to make what I basically made Friday night. Pizza Subs! The oven is still working, thank goodness. Before dinner Chey and I went for a run. Since it was sunny, I used a blanket to protect her pale skin. She didn't mind. She stayed in the shade and watched Dora the Explorer.

Trey got a new work van, so he was busy assembling a ladder bar for the top rack of his van.

Since he was tied up working outside, Chey and I took him dinner and we ate on the patio.
Family Time on the Patio
Lately, I've been buying bulk broccoli from Sam's Club. The bag is 3lbs. I'm the only one who eats it. It's kind of a game for me, to see if I can finish the bag before it starts to rot.
Family Time on the Patio
I handed the camera off to Trey and forgot I had it on manual mode. He prefers to shoot in auto mode. IDK. I go back and forth between the auto and manual settings. In my experience, the auto features on the Canon models usually do a pretty good job.

Bubble-Wubble-Waffles

While Trey looks forward to donuts on the weekends with Cheyenne, I look forward to eating waffles with her. It's our weekend treat.

Whole Grain Waffles, topped with (insert any fruit here). Today, we had mixed berries. Mmmmm!
A Weekend Treat
She's a fan.

Chey and I spent the day together, while Trey worked on his truck. The truck is housed in another town, at a buddies house. I'll post the latest pictures soon. Trey was a grease monkey and Chey and I went to church and then we went with friends to lunch.

Hmmm, we basically played all day.
So, I don't know what's scarier: playing with fake needles (that shiny silver tip is a "needle") or my facial expression.

Once we got bored with needles, we headed outside for a kid-friendly activity.

Minus the Chocolate it was a Mouth Watering Friday

Last night, I went a little crazy with the herbs on my pizza sub. Pizza Sub with Homemade Fries
Oregano, basil, rosemary, and thyme.

My homemade french fries are irresistible. I bake them instead of frying them.

I finally got around to taking pictures of the garden. As you can see the herb garden is filling in nicely.

Remeber all that Easter candy I inherited? I thought I'd take a mouth dive into it, but I was disappointed.
Chocolate BUNNY
It was cheap chocolate. Yuck. You know it's bad chocolate, when Trey won't touch it.

This That & The Other

Work has been so busy. I'm not the type of person that wishes days or weeks away, in fact it's a pet peeve of mine. BUT seriously, what a week! I need some time to decompress. And by decompress, I mean running at least 10 miles.

Between working, side jobs and home duties, there hasn't been a ton of free time to sit and play with my camera. However, I did use it during two events yesterday. I used it as a second camera, but instead of taking photos with it, I captured video. I have so much to learn.

Here are some photos from this past weekend. Thank you camera phone for capturing my random moments.

Brandon is in the process of remodeling his dining room. Trey helped install bead board.
