The Snow Storm

A few days after Christmas….
While we were camping in Abilene a winter storm swept through. We got a lot of ice and the next day there was snow.

We decided to extend our stay and stay an additional 2 days.

Snow Day in February

This morning, when I took cheyenne to school it was snowing. It was pretty steady. It continued until about 2 pm. Like many parents today, in the area...we decided to pull Cheyenne out of school early. This is what our afternoon looked like. This is our third snow day this week!

I'm hoping the weather drys up before Sunday's big Cowtown Ultra Marathon. A few hours ago, they announced Saturday races have been cancelled due to weather. Here's to hoping Sunday will be nice!

Being Iced in Has It's Perks

Like cleaning your house and rearranging furniture. My treadmill has been in the living room for at least a year….
Deep Cleaning
Well, today we rearranged the guest bedroom and put it back in there. I really like it in there. The girls can hang out with me and play. They can also watch TV, while I'm running. We even moved their little craft table in there. Is it strange, that I feel like the space seems bigger with the new layout???

We've played so much this weekend.  Oh, and Dakota is walking!!!!!!! I have a video to prove it. I'll post it soon!

This afternoon, was the first time, I left the house since Thursday afternoon. Trey was driving. while I was documenting. Oh, Tasha and Bella spent the last two nights at our house. She didn't have to work and we didn't have anywhere to go, so she just hung out with us for 2 solid nights. We had so much fun!

Trey and I went to the store to buy more food. Our fridge was starting to look bare. I was almost out of vegetables and I was completely out of fruit. Well, tomorrow I head back to work! It's been a wonderful weekend!

Snowball Fight (Video) & Ringing in the New Year

Remind me how many kids I have? Trey enjoys a good snowball fight, just as much as the next kid.

NYE Bottle. Cheers! 2013!

Well, if you are out partying and enjoying your NYE, tonight -- that's great. Party for me too because tonight, I'm enjoying a quiet night at home. My niece, Angelica is spending the night and before sending Cheyenne to bed, we gathered in the kitchen and toasted. I had wine and the girls had juice.

I'm still trying to hash out my NY resolutions. What about you?

Our Morning: Playing in the Snow

SNOW. Snow. snow.
Snow Day #4
I don't know why, but she wanted to carry her crocs. Don't worry, she was wearing boots.
Snow Day #4
Such a beautiful morning
Snow Day #4
I guess Trey liked the snow so much, he decided to eat it!
Snow Day #4
Instead of running to his rescue, I busted out laughing and kept snapping photos. I'm a terrible wife.
Snow Day #4
He was swinging his arms trying to keep his balance and then he finally busted it!
Snow Day #4
He's fine and we were all cracking up. HAHA!
Snow Day #4
He even thought it was funny.
Snow Day #4
I'm still laughing.
Snow Day #4
After a while Cheyenne started crying because the snow was sticking to her boots. That's when we called it quits and headed back inside. Be safe. Stay warm.

SNOW DAY #4

It's a chilly 18 degrees this morning in DFW. Can you believe this is Snow Day #4?!? Trey is planning on staying at home with us.

I'm starting to feel sorry for the city. We are the super bowl host and our city does not know how to deal with this kind of weather. We are ill equipped for snow and ice! Crowds at Sundance Square have been embarrassing. ESPN will pan the crowd and there will be a handful of crazies. Not quite what everyone expected.

Maybe later, I will venture out and take more photos.

Inclement Weather

For the last two days, we've been iced in. It snowed Tuesday and now the roads are icy. Yesterday, Trey stayed at home with us, but today he braved the roads and went to work. He didn't have any problems, but he admitted the roads in town were/are bad.

So, Cheyenne and I are going on our third day at home, that's right no school tomorrow too. I'm surprised I'm not going crazy. Cabin fever? Not here. Not yet. I've managed to stay occupied by reading, playing with Chey, watching Disney movies, cooking, and baking. Oh and running has kept me sane. So glad to have a treadmill and P90X.

Did you guys hear about the rolling electric blackouts? Here is a message the city emailed me from Oncor:

Rolling Blackout Info from Oncor
Don’t panic. (FYI: When someone tells me not to panic, that's the first thing I want to do)That’s the first thing. Because of record power demand in record cold weather, Oncor is using rolling blackouts to balance electric load with power generation capacity. Most of the planned power outages last for 5-15 minutes.

There was more info, but that was the general message. Trey wants to tell Oncor he will be submitting rolling payment plans over the course of several months. What do you think about that Oncor? Well, this morning we were hit with the first blackout and then again mid-morning. Yeah, I was running on the treadmill, two miles strong, when the electricity went out and the treadmill came to a screeching halt. I waited for a few minutes, but soon realized it could be up to an hour or two before the electricity would power back on, so I decided to break out my P90X book. I started doing AbRipperX. Soon the power came back on. I plugged in my laptop and finished up the P90X mp4. Note to self: I really need to sync that to my phone. I eventually got back on the treadmill and every minute I feared the power would go out again, lucky for me it didn't.

Trey kept hitting me with snowballs to make Cheyenne laugh. I didn't mind because we got some great photos of her smiling.

I returned the favor, right before Trey snapped this one, I socked him right in the chest with a big snowball. That's why I'm smiling so big.

Snowmageddon! 12 Inches

Yesterday, I eventually went to work around 9 am. I only stayed for a few hours and then my boss made me go home, she was worried the roads were going to get bad. So, I made my way home around 1 pm and then 2 hours later the university announced they were closing school the rest of the day. If I had thought about it (Wednesday), I would've prepared my video projects, so I could work on them from home. Yesterday, before I left work, I did that, but UTA, along with every major district in the area cancelled Friday classes. Yes, a real snow day!

This is the largest snowstorm ever recorded in the DFW area. 12 inches of SNOW! And it looks beautiful outside. Yesterday, Trey and I made a snowman and wrapped our Dallas Cowboys flag around his neck. We did this while Cheyenne was napping at Katy's. I kinda of felt guilty that we were having so much fun without her, but she needed her rest.

All these pictures from this post, were taken yesterday. I will post more pictures later, so you can see how much snow we got, since then.
Sidewalk
Thursday nights I usually run 4 miles, but since I was home early I got on the treadmill, opened the blinds and enjoyed watching the snow fall. I have no idea how I'm going to get my long run in this weekend. I was planning on running 11 to 12 miles.
