Cheering for the Good Guys & My Garden Grows

I like basketball, but I don't follow it during the normal season...that is unless a TEXAS team makes it to the playoffs --- oh yeah, and if Trey makes me. Trey didn't have to twist my arm to get me to watch this series. Actually, Trey wasn't even home to watch the game.

Dallas Mavericks are on the edge of winning the championship and I don't want to miss it.

The Bad Guys. Here is a better photo of Lebron and I have to say one of my favorites.

Moscato wine, while watching the game. So sophisticated.

I have mint in the garden and I haven't used it as often as I thought I would, but when I do, I like to put it in my water. Occasionally, I put it in fruit bowls.

Cheyenne needs black out curtains for her room. I put her to bed and it took her 30 minutes to go to sleep. She pulled out all the tricks:
1. I need to go to the bathroom.
2. I need a tissue.
3. I want my mommy/daddy.
4. I want water.
Those tricks don't work on me, because I've been there. I remember doing that when I was little. My response -- "Let's go to the bathroom, but then go to bed and don't come out of your room or else...."

It's hard to say who won this battle. She fell asleep, but then ended up in our room around 3 am. Parents who have toddlers --- Do your little ones sneak into your room in the middle of the night? Cheyenne does every now and then. Most nights, I don't even realize it, until the morning. She's sneaky, she's good, she knows exactly what she's doing.

Her grin in this photo explains it all. She's thinking: Sure mom, I'll go to sleep now, but you'll see me in a few hours.

Switching gears a bit, here are the latest photos of the garden. I don't use any chemicals, to keep bugs away and I think the bugs are taking advantage of that.
The Tomato DIED
Another batch of tomatoes were untouched (other than one minor scratch). You better believe I snatched those babies off the vine.

I'm such a proud garden momma. I have Squash-Zuchinni!!!!! I'm so impressed with myself.

This flower wilts during the high heat of the day, but buds during the morning sunrise. I snapped this photo, this morning.

Last year, the squash I planted got out of control. I ended up mowing it down. Mistake #1 - planting it outside of a contained area. I learned my lesson.

And now a flashback to last year.

Mavericks at American Airlines

Saturday evening, I was so exhausted after running the half marathon. Even though resting sounded like fun....going to a Mavericks game sounded better. At that point, Trey was recovering from his stomach bug, so he was well enough for me to leave Cheyenne with him.

That night, I felt like the single friend with all the couples, but my friends are cool and didn't make me feel left out. Before the game, we ate a light dinner at Panera Bread and then we hopped on a train to American Airlines.

Last year, we went to the game and took Linda and Steve. Here is the blog post from that game. Cheyenne looks so cute!

In This Case, Sharing is Not Caring

Guess who has the stomach bug now? Trey.

It started yesterday evening and pretty much knocked him off his feet. He was in bed by 7:30 pm and after I put Chey down for the night, I followed his lead. I thought it would be smart to get a solid eight hours of sleep before the half marathon. Well, right as I was dozing off to bed, is when his sickness got ugly and I mean U-G-L-Y.

Both him and Cheyenne missed my half marathon this morning. That makes it two years in a row that they've missed this particular race. I had a great race and I even set a personal record. Yay! I'm looking forward to writing a full race re-cap of that. I would do it now, but I just got back from the Dallas Mavericks game and I'm toast! Half mararthon + setting a PR + taking care of sick Daddy + Mavericks game = tired momma. Goodnight and sleep tight.

P.S. Trey, get well soon.

Weekend with the Eilers

TRE Ride
Wow, it's been a busy weekend for us. Linda and Steve drove into town Friday night and we've been busy ever since. Saturday morning, we went running and afterwards, meet up with Nick and Allison at Waffle House. I would like to take credit for introducing Linda and Steve to Waffle House. I kept bragging about how good and affordable it is, so I'm glad they liked it. I like to get the All Star Breakfast, which is basically---everything on the menu. There's nothing like running 8 miles and eatig a big breakfast. Haha!

Later that evening, we rode the Trinity Railroad Express from Ft. Worth to Dallas for the Mavericks game. It was a church group activity. We had a suite at the game, which was a wonderful treat. It was first-class for sure! We weren't confined to our seats and we were able to walk around the suite--to visit, eat, and of course---watch the game. Today we went to the Cowboys game, but I'm so exhausted, pictures will have to wait until tomorrow.

Fajitas and nachos in the suite. There was also popcorn, water and soda. SWEET! Too bad most of us had already had a big dinner before heading to the game.

I borrowed this Snugli carrier from Leah and it was a lifesaver this weekend. It really came in handy.
