A Compact Vehicle Brought Us Closer Together & A Weekend Wedding

This past weekend, we spent over 12 hours in the focus. We drove to Port Lavaca to visit my family.
It was a long drive....I'm so glad we took the focus and not the truck. We averaged 38 mpg on the highway.
Ft Worth to Port Lavaca
For about an hour I rode in the backseat with the girls. I was sitting directly behind Trey and had zero leg room. It makes me laugh thinking about it, but when I was pregnant with Dakota, Trey insisted we consider buying a fiat. We test drove one and everything. Although they are super cute cars, they are not practical for our family.

I finally got around to customizing the Sync Wallpaper, so I had pretty girls to look at during the trip - wether I was looking towards the front or back of the car, I could see my girls.

My cousin, Raquel got married this weekend and I recorded the ceremony. There was a dance at the reception and Cheyenne kept dragging Trey out on the dance floor. She freaked out when the played Taylor Swift's 22 song! That's her jam. When Trey and I were younger, he would tell me no to dancing, but he can't resist a 4 year old! How sweet is that??!! And he couldn't just dance with one girl. Hi, Dakota. We see you too.

On our way out of town, we visited my grandmother. She gave Dakota her baby blanket. She makes all the grand babies in our family blankets. Dakota freaked when she saw her name weaved-in! It was jaw dropping, impressive.

Other than the exhausting drive, we managed to relax and I slept in both mornings.
Yesterday, as soon as I woke up, I got Trey donuts for father's day. He was still in bed sleeping, so I served him donuts in bed.

Here is my training from last week. I missed my long run. Oops!

Last Minute Hugs & Kisses

Yes, I still have pictures from our Port Lavaca trip. I have this batch and then one more and I think, that's it.

While we were visiting with my Grandma Mary, she showed us this image. She's the baby, my great grandmother, is holding her. They were at a funeral, but she was not sure who the funeral was for.

We couldn't leave town, without saying goodbye. Last minute hugs and kisses.

She gave Chey this color book. Yay, something to do on the road. Grandma Mary & Cheyenne
We hope to visit again, soon!

What's going on this weekend?
I have 21 miles to run. I'm going to do my best to run at least 10 miles at a 10:30 pace and then speed up a little after that. We'll see. The main thing is just running the miles, so maybe I'll start there. Yeah, that seems like the best place to start. Other than running, it should be a nice weekend. I'm thinking about making those crack paleo cookies again, since I have half a bag of chocolate chips left.

Oh, while I'm kind of on the topic of paleo, I wanted to mention that anytime I go back to the dark-side/non-paleo, my stomach gets severely pissed. It's not cool, at all. Last night, I had my delicious bean, beef, cheese nachos with tortilla chips... you know, the whole 9 yards. Now, my stomach hates me. :( It's weird how before my stomach could handle the junk, but since I've been eating clean, when I go off track my stomach doesn't like it. Hopefully, my stomach will get with the program and realize I'm eating 80/20 paleo and stop acting funky.

Grandma Mary's 70th Birthday in Port Lavaca

I spent my Labor Day weekend in Port Lavaca partying with my 70 year old grandma. Port Lavaca is a small beach town located near the coast and it's about an hour and a half drive from Corpus Christi. I spent my childhood in PL and most of my mom's side of the family still lives there. So, going back to PL is like going home.

Trey and I enjoyed our trip so much, we are going to make sure to make the trip at least once a year. We won't let 3 years go by, again. Just an FYI - From DFW to PL it's like a 6 - 7 hour drive. LONG, but worth it.

Here are some snap shot memories of the day.

This woman is the rock our family. She is the sweetest woman I know. IMG_2421

I'm amazed Tasha even talks to Trey, considering a few years ago, he put a dog shock collar on her. He's the older brother she never had. IMG_2442

Grandma wanted a picture wit the great-grandkids and as you can imagine it was chaos. So, in case you were wondering, my child did not have an over-night growth spurt. Aunt Pam was trying to hide behind the kids and hold Chey up. Aunt Pam, We can still see you. ;)

Grandma had more people at her birthday party than most people have at their wedding. If you'd like to see all the pictures from the party here is the link.
