Speedwork with My Favorite Running People

I'm not sure how speedwork will help me with the ultra marathon, but I have a feeling it will help me with the half marathon. The half I'll be racing in will be at the end of this month. Last year, it was FREEZING weather. I'm hoping for better luck this time around.

Here is the lulu run group. Aren't we a fun, fit, good looking group of people? We had a good turn out that night. We did speedwork on a not-so-busy street. We looked like a gang of runners all wearing Lulu gear.

    In my opinion, SW is great for 5Ks, 10Ks, and even half marathon training. It helps you train your body to push/sprint, especially when you feel like you can't push further and towards the end of a workout/race. That night we ran 100 meters, 200 m, 300 m, 400 m, resting between and then ran it again (reversed) 400 m, 300 m etc.... then we'd repeat that process a few more times. Confused? Yeah, me too! Haha! You just need to come out and experience it.
