The girls have been asking for a puppy and Trey gave into their wishes and got them a Maltese puppy. I didn't want a dog, but then I saw Rose and my heart melted.

It's Time to Stay Home

I've been enjoying my work free weekends and evenings with the girls. We've been hanging out. Hear what Dakota has to say about the time…

We can't help, but be outside, especially with the cooler temps. Saturday morning, after I got back from my 22 mile run, Cheyenne wanted to go for a bike ride. I told her I would walk and she could ride.

Bunk Beds!!!

We got the girls bunk beds!

Before they were sharing a queen size bed. I was washing the sheets and they were enjoying jumping on the bed.

They are absolutely in love with their new room set-up. To be honest, I think their room is now the cutest in the entire house! I just want to sit in there, curl up near the window and read a book. Dakota really likes it.

May through June has been a peak season for my small business. As of now, I have one more wedding in July and then I get a long break until September. That could change, but as of now…that's the plan.

I'm thankful for family back in Abilene for helping us out when they can.

In other news
I just realized the Cowtown Ultra Marathon is 3 weekends away!
I feel pretty good about my training, I've been consistently running every week for months now (sure I've missed a few long runs here and there, but over all I've been consistent) and I've had some great long runs the past  few weeks…. ---- for me, the majority of an ultra is mental. It's having a no quit attitude and pushing through, when your mind is telling you to stop. Having a good baseline of training with lots of miles also helps! I don't want to dismiss that.

Seeing Dakota so happy about the gift Cheyenne got her for Christmas and then getting to see Cheyenne's reaction. Chey wanted Dakota to love it and I was afraid she wouldn't, but she did. Dakota was dragging that Nutcracker all over the house, she even showed Trey and said LOOK!!!

Also, I can't remember the last time, I had a chance to spend this much time with my younger sister, Tasha. She's spent the night at least 3 times in the last two weeks.

No Big Rush
Last but not least, it's been wonderful --- not being in a rush to get out the door. I've had time to style my hair. Is that a selfie, I see? Why yes, it is. Trey got me a Conair Styling Comb for Christmas. Now, I can style my hair with a comb instead of my round brush.  I love it and this is me channeling my inner Lana Del Rey hairstyle.
It's been a good break. I go back to work on Thursday.

I have to watch this girl, she thinks it's cute to stand up in the tub. It's not so much fun, when she slips on her head or butt.

This was Cheyenne's idea. She insisted on having her bed next to Dakota, so they could hold hands at night and she could comfort her if she started to cry. It's been there for about a week. So sweet, right?

Trey wants to get the girls bunk beds, when they get a little older.

Did you ever share a room with a sibling? I did! We did the whole, this is my side of the room, this is your side. It didn't work so well, when we shared a bed too.
How about bunk beds? Bottom or top? I had bunk beds. I had the top bunk, but I want to say that my sister and I swapped on occasion, but I always remember having the top the majority of the time.

Can we talk about how Dakota looks like a baby princess in her floral dress??? Super cute!!! Notice the toy bottle next to her. It's been months since I've given her a bottle, but every time she sees that toy bottle she puts it to her mouth. She's in denial about aging.

Rest Your Head Anywhere and Everywhere

I don't know what Dakota's deal is, but she doesn't mind sleeping upright. I caught her in her room sleeping like this the other night. After I took the photo she woke up and looked at me like, WHAT???

Oh, and she doesn't mind sleeping in her bouncer.

First Sleepover

Mike, Erin and their girls are spending the weekend at our house! I love their family!
This is Cheyenne's first sleepover.  I figured she would sleep in her bed and Brianna would sleep on the floor, but Cheyenne wanted to join Brianna on the floor. BFF's!

I'm sure Dakota is loving the company too.

Dakota is 31 Weeks (7 Months) Old

- Dakota says Momma and Da-da.
- She hates food, but I'm working with her and offering her a small spoonful every (other) night.
- Her eyes are still a shade of gray. The definite color is still a mystery.
- No teeth, yet.
- She likes to put toys in her mouth.
- She's still sleeping through the night, except last night she had a rough one (I'll talk about that in a moment).
- As far as naps, she rarely takes them, when she's with me, but oddly enough - this does not effect her mood. Occasionally, she'll nap if we go for a car ride and she definetaly naps when we drive to and from Abilene.
- The time of the day when she's the happiest is during bed time. I'll put her in her crib and she likes to stare at her mobile.

In case you are wondering, we still write on the walls. We plan on charting Dakota's growth, just like we do with Cheyenne.
P.S. I know my hair looks crazy in this picture. :)

Sick Day
Early this morning, around 3 am, I heard Dakota fussing. She had a fever, so I decided to stay home with her.  By 9 am, she was back to normal/no fever, but she remained fussy on and off the rest of the day. Late this afternoon, I had to go to the pediatrician's office to get her second installment of the flu shot. While we were there, the doctor confirmed she has an ear infection. :(

A Good Form of Birth Control

What is going on here?

Now that Dakota is 7 months old, it's safe to say she's outgrown her newborn through (most of her) 6 months old outfits. It took me a few hours on Monday, but I sorted and organized through the girls clothes. I put them in big plastic tubs and used Krista's storing method. <----- That has a nice ring to it.

FYI: A good form of birth control is having to organize kids clothes. There's just so much!!!

Luckily, my friend showed me an easy and inexpensive way of organizing and storing them. I wrote a blog post about it, a while back. I put a link of that post at the end of this one, if anyone is interested.

Are you guys enjoying the cold weather??? I am. I love jackets and scarfs. Today, it's a little warm, but hopefully we'll get a cold front soon, so I don't look like an idiot walking around wearing this, when it's 70 degrees and sunny outside.

Tonight, I think I'm craving wine and pizza. Pizza Night, holla!!! That's what the girls and I ate Monday night. Does pizza count as a vegetable? Because if it does, I'm right on track with my goal of eating more veggies.

Instead of asking for help, Cheyenne prefers to climb her bookcase to get what she wants. She wanted a puzzle. And Dakota was in her own little world. She was busy watching Happy Feet.

After being away from Cheyenne for two days, it was wonderful seeing her sweet face again.

My Week in Photos: WSJ Wine Club, Cowboys Opener & More

I joined the Wall Street Journal Wine Club. 15 bottles of wine and a corkscrew wine opener for $99. If you are interested in the club, let me know before you order -- because they have a refer a friend program and I'll save money on my next purchase. Although, I'll probably be set for a year with this much wine, but still -- contact me before you order!

I got a mix of red and white wine bottles. I'll open a bottle next week. I still have a bottle of Riesling in the fridge. Trey is not a wine drinker, so it usually takes me a full week (or more) to consume one bottle. Towards 6 days, the wine tastes kind of flat....

Since I'm still nursing a baby, I only drink a few ounces (a tiny amount), typically after Dakota's last feeding of the night.

Cheyenne has been in Abilene visiting grandparents. I'll meet up with her this afternoon, when I go to Abilene.
 
I'm so jealous, yesterday Jomi meet Erin at an Abilene park for a play-date. Brianna and Cheyenne picked up, right where they left off. Best Friends Forever!

This week, someone was feeling depressed about the Rangers and decided to make food (cooking therapy??) and bring it to work. Cookies and Mexican food for me because someone was depressed, sucks for them, but yay for me!

Speaking of food -- I'm totally obsessed with Paleo Almond Brownies.

Winter is Going to be Brutal

And I'm not just talking about the weather....
My toddler only likes wearing skirts and prefers sandals over closed shoes. This is going to be a hard fashion season for us. Perhaps, the answer is leggings??? but there might not be any hope for shoes.
Dakota and Chey didn't take an afternoon nap, yesterday, but they rested in their room for about an hour. Sweet sisters! I think Dakota loves how close the  TV is to her crib.

Saturday at Jubilee of Tables there was chilcare, but I wanted a picture with Dakota, so I grabbed her and we took this photo. I wish both of my girls were there, but Chey wanted to spend time with her Daddy. They spent the entire day together. I'm thankful, Trey is a hands on Dad. He's great with her.
