Sock Hop: Daddy Daughter Date Night Edition

Trey took the girls out on a date! I was planning on going for a short run while they were out, but then it started to rain outside. I might still go, if it stops or I might run on the treadmill.

A Night Out. Sundance Square. And a Morning at the Trailhead.

A little night on the town, Saturday Night....
Trey and I explored Sundance Square. This was our fist time out there, since the city added the canopies and fountains. We loved it, even though it was a little rainy, windy and cold.
We had dinner at Cowtown Diner. The food was delicious!

This morning, my neighbor/wonderful run buddy --  Amy picked me up and we went to the Clearfork Trailhead. Every Saturday, they offer free outdoor exercise classes. We got there an hour early, so we went for a run, right off the Trinity. We ran four miles and then did the boot camp class. It was so much fun and the weather was around 59 degrees!!!!

These two love birds went on a date.
They went shopping at the Disney Store, had dinner at Chuy's Mexican Resturant and then watched a movie.



And this is how I spent 3 hours of my weekend. Another long run. I ran to the lake. I stopped a few times, and admired the view.

I would love to live near the water. How about you?

Valentine's Group Date. Boys Surprise Us with a Limo Ride to Dallas

For over a month, Trey has had Valentine's Day plans for us. He kept the details from me. However he did tell me, that it was going to be a group date. I love surprises! I didn't even beg him to tell me.

Yesterday, I worked a half-day, so I would have enough time to get ready.
Before meeting our friends for a night of fun, we stopped by to see the girls.

It was nice seeing Trey dressed up for the occasion.

We arrived at Paul's house (the guy to Trey's right), and we took group photos. We were chatting, wondering now what? Where are we going? What are we doing, boys? And then this black limo pulled up. The girls were like what???? Are we being punked? They have the wrong address.
We were so appreciative of the wonderful surprise! Way to go guys! Thank you! We felt special.

Have you ever rode in a limo? This was my first time. It was pretty cool.

We cranked up the music and had a great time. The guys still didn't' tell us where we were heading. An hour later, we were in Dallas!

Talk about fancy…we stopped and ate at Pappas Bros Steakhouse. I didn't even know about this place. I've been to the other Pappas chain restaurants, but I didn't know they had a steakhouse. It was a formal resturant. The atmosphere was over the top, romantic - even with four couples. :)

I made some new friends and new memories.

Cotton Bowl Game. A Daddy-Daughter Tradition.

These people are off to watch the Cotton Bowl game at AT&T Stadium.
OSU vs Missouri. Hey, once upon a time we went to an OSU game with our friends.

Before going to the game, they stopped by to say hi. This year, Mom is going to be uncle Bubba's guest. It looks like Dakota and I are going to have a girls night.

No Hurry to Walk, Video Chatting & Weekday Date Night

I'm really missing my girls, today. They've been in Abilene since, Monday.
Earlier this week, before the girls left town, I took a few photos of Dakota.

She is 69 weeks which is 15.8689 months old <<<------- yes, I just googled that.

"By now, most children are walking fairly well." I'm still waiting for Dakota to take her first steps, on her own. During her last appt. the doctor didn't seem too concerned. He said, if she hasn't started walking by 18 months, if I wanted, he would recommend a specialist. The specialist would come to our home and observe Dakota in her own environment and I guess see what's wrong with me? Haha. I don't know. I don't think, it will get to that point. She's just taking her sweet time with the walking thing.

Most kids start walking by 12 - 14 months....or at least that's what I've read.

Have you ever video chatted with a toddler? I almost lost my dinner. Cheyenne was running all over the place with the phone in hand. Think blair witch project.

Remember when I had to teach Chey how to take a proper selfie? I might have to teach her how to properly conduct a video chat.

Last night, Trey and I took advantage of the girls being out of town. We went to The Keg, my treat!

A little weekday date with Daddy.

The kids celebrated Pirate Day at Krispy Kreme. Free Donuts for dressing up like a pirate. Mrs. Amanda took them, while I was at work.
 
If you spend a lot of time with someone they are bound to annoy you. As much as these little ones agitate each other, they sure like to get cozy on the recliner.

It's a known fact, ballerinas play with ballerinas.

While Trey was in Kansas watching the Cowboys game, we were watching it at the house. Notice the cheerleader in the middle.

Work gave me a CLEAR Wireless hotspot. It's perfect for conferences or you know....when I need to stream strawberry shortcake at the doctors office.

When I'm not eating, I'm watching shows about food.

Dakota is almost 100% over her sickness. I may have to change the batteries on her snot sucker, soon. We used it a lot!

Weekend without the kids

Saturday, after I ran Cedar Ridge Trail Race, I went home, cleaned up and then headed to Weatherford to record a wedding.



Sunday, Trey and I slept in for a bit, FaceTimed' with the girls and then headed to Six Flags. Cheyenne was not pleased, when she found out we went without her. We got there right when the park opened and didn't have to wait in long lines. We left around 2 pm and then went swimming.

Later that night, we went to Tillman's Roadhouse and I got my s'mores fix.

I've been wanting to eat at Tillman's for years.

Royal Castle Date Night

Friday night, Trey took Cheyenne on a church hosted daddy daughter date night. Cheyenne kept calling it a royal castle date. I think they had a small castle at the church or something.

The Children's Minster sent out a few tips to the Dad's...

Ideas to make your Daddy daughter date even more special:

1.       Treat this as you would a “real” date, help your daughter have high expectations for how men are supposed to treat women.

2.       Ask your daughter to the Date Night

3.       Tell her that you are looking forward to your date.

4.       Get ready separately and go outside and ring the doorbell when it’s time to go.

5.       Buy a flower or a corsage for your daughter and present it to her when you “pick her up”

6.       Have a friend or relative act as a chauffeur, driving you to and from your date.

7.       Take pictures as you get ready to go.

8.       Open the doors for her.

9.       Make her a card that says thank you for going on a date to present to her.
