Fourth of July Weekend

Friday, I worked a wedding in Azle. Everything ran smoothly! The ceremony was outside and the lighting was gorgeous. The entire time I was at the venue, so I didn't have to run around from one location to another, which is normally the case. It was pretty laid back. I can't wait to edit it, I got some pretty footage.

Saturday morning, we went to movies and watched Inside Out. I'm such a baby. I cried the entire time!!!! What Inside Out emotion are you? There is not an emo character, but if there was one, that would be me. Actually, I'd be a mix of Joy and Emo. The movie was insanely entertaining, even if you don't have kids - you should watch it.

Later that afternoon, we went over to a friends house. Brian from our Sunday school class threw a pool party and he had a pretty good turn out.

Sunday, we went out for lunch.

Sunday afternoon, we hiked. It was about a mile hike. We stopped along the trail, took pictures and played. It was a great holiday weekend!

Running Before Dawn in Order to Get to a 9 am Showtime

How was your weekend? My weekend was filled with running and recovery.
Saturday, my morning started early at 4:45 am ---- that's when my alarm went off. In order to run 17 miles and get back to the house at 8 am, I had to get up before dawn.
Dailymile
Afterwards, I hurried to get out the door and get the girls to the 9 am movie to watch  Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2. I love going to the movies at 9 am (really). Can you tell I'm an early bird?

I spent the rest of the afternoon in compression socks with my legs propped up.

Lately, the girls having been spending more time outside playing with chalk. It's nice since the cold front came through, I don't have to worry about the wasps outside. In the summer, the wasps, like to linger near my back porch.

This morning, I ran 4 miles on the treadmill. It was easy. I wasn't even watching the time. I just ran and took breaks, when I needed to -- well, when Dakota demanded.

For lunch, the girls and I ate at the mall food court. Subway for me (Foot-long, black forest ham!!!), Chick-fil-A for the girls. I sat at the kiddy table with them. It was actually, really comfortable and I didn't have to worry about hunching over to feed Dakota, since I left her in the stroller.

One last thing...this is my favorite song on the radio, right now! I've gotta add this to my run playlist.

Taking a Baby to a Movie, Who Does That? Oh, Wait...

Today, I did something I never thought I'd ever do ---- I took a baby to a movie theatre. It was actually Trey's idea. After church he drove to Movie Tavern and was like, okay, let's see Ice Age. Like a true champ, Dakota slept through the entire flick, even with me laughing hysterically. Cheyenne was 2 when we took her to her first movie (Blog Post Link).

Back tracking a little bit....
This morning, I met with a few ladies from our church, they wanted to give Dakota a quilt. It's hard to see it in this picture, but Cheyenne is holding it in her arms. Yeah, so the ladies who gave her this quilt apparently make a quilt for all the new babies (in our congregation) and they've been doing this for years. One of our friends said his 18 year old son still has his blanket. Pretty cool! I'll see about getting pictures of Dakota enjoying her new snuggie.

Don't envy my formal PJ's;
Don't judge me either.
One thing we like to do every night is read before bedtime. We've started to include Dakota and Chey is all for it. I think Chey is going to be my little bookworm. It's never to early to get a head start. I'm just preparing her for college, one book at a time.  :)

Do you RedBox? We do. Lately, we've seen Thor, Cars 2, and Hop. Last weekend we tried to watch Happy Feet 2, but the disc was damaged. We called RedBox Customer Service and they gave us two promo codes.

This applies to a 3 year old too.

Home Projects

Do you ever have a weekend, when you feel like all you've done is home improvement work. That sums up my weekend. Mr. Handyman did most of it, but I supervised <---that should count as something. So, maybe he did most of the home improvement work, but I cleaned the house ALL weekend.

Doesn't he look happy to be working?

For months we've needed to prep the room for paint. Trey put bondo/putty on the wainscoting and then sanded the area.
Woodwork Project in the Master Bedroom
I guess we are one step closer to a finished bedroom. Our goal is to have a painted room before Dakota is born. The clock is ticking....I'm still thinking I want grey walls with white wainscoting. Thoughts?

Trey using his sander to smooth out the area. I'm glad he knows what he's doing because I have no idea.

Trey knocked out another honey do item. He unclogged the bathroom sinks. Now, I can wash my hands, face and brush my teeth in my own bathroom! I don't know what to do with myself. Ahhh, the little things. This is the equipment we rented from Sunbelt Rentals. We are going to get our money back because this cord was too big for the pipe. Trey took pictures of the job and Sunbelt agreed to give us back a return.
Ordered this from Sunbelt
Here is a picture of Trey working, unclogging the drain. He said he found a rat in the pipe. A hair rat! I do believe he's making a jab at my head of hair! You know a man loves you when he is willing to pull your hair from the drain. The things he puts up with....
Home Improvement Work
It wasn't all work and no play. Saturday, we had a family date at the Movie Tavern. We took Cheyenne to see The Lorax. I was so tired, I was struggling to stay awake. The same way I feel after I run an 18 miler is the same way I felt at the theatre. FULL BLOWN EXHAUSTED! I  did enjoy the movie, but I missed a few musical numbers because I kept dozing off. Cheyenne loved it!

Park, Surprise Parade, Happy Hour, & Movie

Here are some of the highlights from this weekend.
My little sister, Tasha was in town. We went shopping and got matching sandals and sunglasses (different colors tho), cause we're cool like that.

We took the kids to the park.

This is Bella, my niece.

Cheyenne got carried away swinging.

Things got real crazy at the park. This girl knows how to have fun. Take notes, people.

We went to the Stockyards and by total accident, made it to the St. Patricks Day Parade. Afterwards, we stopped by the petting zoo.

Oh, Friday night we took Tasha and Bella to one of our favorite restaurants, Chuy's. Did you know that Happy Hour is Monday thru Friday from 4 - 7 pm? They have a nacho bar during their happy hour and get this, it's FREE. Say, WHAT????? If you knew about this, we are not friends anymore because you did not share this information with me. For reals, though! We made it right in time before happy hour ended. SCORE.

Trey drove the scooter to Chuy's and met us there since our car can only seat four people. I know, more ammunition for Trey and his case to convince me we need a new vehicle. LALALA, I'm not listening, ELEMENT for life!
Trey Driving the Scooter
Last night, Trey stayed at home with the kids, while Tasha and I went to the Movie Tavern to watch Project X. It was nice getting out with just her, thanks TREY! So, that was our weekend with my sister and niece.

Cheyenne's Day

This afternoon Trey and I met Nana and Nanny in Weatherford. We were reunited with our baby.
Cheyenne
She spent time in Abilene visiting with family and shopping.
Cheyenne
Since we were in the area, I tried a cupcake from this place. It was great.
Ultimate Cupcake
This was Cheyenne's day. We asked her what she wanted to do and she said she wanted to watch Lion King. So, for the third time, in the past few days, we went to the movies---again.
Lion King 3D
The Lion King kept her attention the entire time. I loved how she reacted to some of the jokes and the action scenes.
Lion King 3D
She kept her glasses on the entire time too.
Movie Time!
Movie popcorn. We couldn't finish it. We barely made a dent.

Nana got Chey a bubble blower and she was excited to show us.

We spent an hour at the park and then headed home for dinner. I'm getting burnt out on all this eating out. I feel so blah and gross. Ugh! I've been reminded why I prefer eating healthy.

Some letters Chey got.
