For the most part our dogs sleep inside every night, but since we'll be bringing a baby home in a few weeks, I've been leaving them outside. The problem with that is they bark at random times throughout the night and the last few nights the weather has been cool enough to sleep with the windows open, so I can hear them bark loud and clear at any given time.
Thursday, Trey and I both had enough of it, so we purchased one bark collar. We figured we'd rotate it between the two of them. Corky was the first one to wear it and he barked a few times before he figured out that if he continued he'd get buzzed. The rest of the night he was quite. Harley woke me up at 3 am that night yapping her trap, so I waddled out of bed, into the backyard and took the collar off of Corky and placed it on her. An few minutes later she barked once, let out a yelp and never barked again. The collar seemed to do the trick.
When I woke up Friday, Trey took the collar off of her and we haven't had to use it again. Both of them have been angels.
So, since the dogs haven't been wearing the collar and seeing how Trey loves to pick on Natasha, you won't believe what he did to her. He chased her down and put the collar to her neck and shocked her with it! I asked her if it hurt and she said, "Yeah!"
Well, Mom and Tasha left town a few hours ago and now I'm waiting around the house for Amy, Hilario, and Angeleica to get here. They'll be spending the night with us and I think we're going out for dinner. It'll be nice to see them.

Not so Dark Fence
The fence isn't anywhere close to the stain we selected. The fence guy said the color should change over a months time, so I guess we'll see how the color settles.

A Strange Night
The fence guy stopped by this morning. The stain on it is still wet. I'll have some pictures up later, but here is one of Corky frolicking in the grass.

Well, Trey and I had a strange night. We both woke up at 3 am and had a hard time going back to sleep. I was having a difficult time because Cheyenne was kicking me to death. Trey put his hand on my belly and every time she'd kick me good he'd say, "Whoa!"
Here is a random picture I took this morning.

It's Getting Out of Control
Trey is really getting into the yearbookyourself.com. He even went so far, as to download the pastors picture, off of our church website. So, if you get a picture of yourself via email, it's probably from him

Trinity Trail Fiasco
Its been outrageously hot these last two weeks so I've been sticking to an indoor workout on the elliptical. Saturday, I wanted to change things up, so I headed out the door to Trinity Trails with both dogs.
For those of you who don't know, TT is a huge trail that runs along Trinity River. It's my favorite place to run and walk because there is a perfect view of the Ft. Worth skyline. Before I headed out the door, I already had great expectations.
About the running
I was lucky I got Harley to walk. I was so excited about running but she just wouldn't cooperate. Every chance she got, she tugged and pulled and made the experience one that I want to forget. It was so embarrassing because she kept barking every time a cyclist would zoom past us. Occasionally, she would sit her butt down and refuse to move, which would only frustrate me more.
While all this was going on Corky was probably thinking, "Get it together!" Corky is my pro athlete dog, okay more like semi pro, so I'm sure he was just as disappointed as I was. We were both ready to get at least a 2 miler in. Needless to say, I don't think I'll be making a second trip with Harley. Next time we'll stick to the neighborhood. And it'll be a while before I'll even want to go outside (by then I might not be able to run). Yesterday the temperature shot up to 107! Even if I want to go outside at dusk it'll still be scorching.
On a side Note about Church:
Sunday morning worship was great. I played bass and Trey played his acoustic guitar. It was great to be playing again and I pray that more opportunities will come from it.

In Between Running Calls & Baby Registry
So, this weekend didn't really go as planned, as far as the nursery goes. Trey had to work a lot of overtime, but here is what he managed to get done in between running calls.

I love the detail of the framing. I can't wait until we get paint on the walls. Then the framing will really pop.

Even though Trey was swamped with work, I tagged along. Saturday, he did some work in NE Ft Worth and dropped me off at BabiesRUs, while he ran his call down the block. Before Saturday, I had already completed my registry at Target, but figured I might as well register at BabiesRUs too. So, I did.
It's crazy how much stuff you need for a baby. There are all sorts of gadgets that can be intimidating for the first time mom. And the breast pump gadgets...those things look like torture devices, but boy do I hope that I get one :)
All kidding aside, one thing I really would like is a baby jogger. Here is the one I added to my registry.

Amy gave me Angelica's baby stroller...So, I'm set for the everyday mall walking stroll, I just think it would be nice to have a jogger too. After all, Cheyenne is my new running partner. Sorry, Corky, but you've been replaced. Baby comes before pups.

Spending the Day at Home
I gave Harley a haircut and Corky a trim. I did such a good job that when Trey got home from work he asked, "How much did that cost me?"

You wouldn't believe how fast their hair grows. It's hard work grooming them, especially Harley, but I appreciate the savings.
Other than grooming my pets, I've been a prisoner in my home. I had to wait for the plumber and security system guy to come over. And of course they never tell you a definite time. So, I was stuck here all morning and afternoon. Luckily, I didn't have anywhere to go or any thing to do outside the house.
Earlier, I wanted to ride the scooter to the library, but I've made the decision to give the scooter a break, until after Cheyenne is born. I came to that decision after I told Trey, people who ride and don't wear helmets are stupid and then I thought wait... a minute I'm 5 months pregnant and I'm riding...maybe that's stupid too.
Last Night:
I was laying in bed rubbing lotion on my belly and I started yelling at Trey, "Get over here she's kicking." I've felt her kick and move a lot, but I've been wanting him to experience it. He told me to make her stop because he had just jumped in the shower. Like I can command her kicks. After he got out he layed his hand on me and not only could he feel Cheyenne kick, he could see his hand move! It was amazing!

We're Not Professionals
We now have two dogs, which means we have more dog hair to deal with. I'm tired of sweeping every other day and since it's summer time Trey and I both agreed it would be a good idea to give the dogs a haircut.
Poor Harley was our ginnie pig. We didn't know what we were doing. I couldn't stop laughing at the way we trimmed her. She looks almost unrecognizable.
When we first brought Harley home, she looked more like a long hair Dachshund than a Welsh Corgi, now after her haircut, she looks more like a Chihuahua.
A few snapshots of Harley before her haircut

Corky's Turn. He didn't get a short shave like Harley, just a little trim.

Now meet our new and improved Harley

Overall, I'm pleased with her haircut. She looks cute and healthy.

I prefer Harley's short hair versus her original look.

Harley is a Sweetheart
Harley is settling nicely. Her and Mr. Corky are the best of buddies and have already taken a mud bath together. I'm glad they are getting along because when the baby comes the dogs won't be spending as much time inside.
Harley and I at the Human Society, Sunday

I'm trying to hold Corky up the best I can...and there he is with that tongue

Harley's personality is really different from Corky. She is gentle and she likes to look up at me when I'm talking to her. Corky usually just walks around when I'm trying to get his attention.

Harley the Welsh Corgi
Tomorrow afternoon, I will be bringing home an adorable Corgi from the Humane Society; her name is Harley. Now Corky has a playmate.
Earlier today, Trey and I met up with Cortnee and her dog Luby at the dog park.

The Whole Bed
Last night, I took the liberty to stretch myself across the entire bed as I slept. It was pretty easy, since Trey wasn't there. He had a job to do out of town, so his company booked him a hotel.
I slept good, but this morning I didn't have anybody there telling me it was time to get up, or hey your alarm is going off. Instead, I woke up to Corky biting his nails. I'm telling you that dog grooms himself.

Ft. Woof Dog Park
This morning, Trey and I took Corky to the Fort Woof Dog Park. He spent most of the time sniffing the other dogs and hiking his leg.
I made lunch at the house and now we're all relaxing. I'm going to try to take it easy, until tonight. I'm suppose to meet up with Cortnee this eveing to go to a Jay-Z and Mary J Blige concert. It should be lots of fun.

Give the Key To Corky, He'll Hold It
I have an upcoming race this Saturday and I'm mentally preparing myself. Oh, and I'm also running when I get a chance.
While I was in Stillwater, I bought Corky this cute jacket. It comes in really handy too. Most of my work-out wardrobe lacks pockets, so the last two days I've been placing my house key in Corky's jacket.
I'm not going to lie, today's run was difficult and it didn't help that Corky wanted to quit right before we hit the 3 mile mark.

A Great Trip
Saturday morning, Linda and I went for a 3 mile run. I enjoy running by myself, but here lately it's been getting really old, so it was nice to have a running buddy to talk to for the 30 minute hike. Her neighborhood is a little hilly, so the run was definetly harder than my normal one. Around the 2 mile mark our chatting slowed down because I was focusing on breathing.
I laughed a lot this past weekend and it was so nice to see friends. Trey kept teasing Linda about being a bad host, but thats what he does. Actually, both Linda and Steve were great host. Linda made these amazing brownie sundaes and always had something for us to do, and knew when we just wanted to hang out and not do anything, but talk. Trey and I had so much fun and I can't wait for them to make the trip to see us.

He's Thinking: What did I do to deserve this?
Happy late Valentine's Day.
Trey really out did himself this year. I got flowers, chocolate, more chocolate, and ice cream cake. What a sweetheart. Trey planned for us to make smores, but it was too hot to start a fire. We might get a cold front this weekend, so we will have to wait until then.
Well, other than celebrating Valentine's day, I spent the evening harassing Corky with this baseball cap. At this rate, Corky will have a full wardrobe by this summer.
He's so ghetto fabulous

My face is red because I just ran 3 miles

Leftover Material
I had some leftover material from the curtains, so I made Corky a cape. Yeah, I actually used the sewing machine.
He matches the curtains...if that doesn't scream metro-sexual dog, I don't know what does. Bless his little heart.

Corky is Famous
I submitted a picture to mycorgi.com calender contest and they actually used it. Corky makes an appearance on the December page. The picture they used is small, but I'm glad they used it. If you care, here is where you can find the calendar for sale. If you look really hard, you can see Corky at the top right corner.

This is the original. If you ask me, Corkscrew is cuter than Mr. December. We'll make the big spread next year....that's why we've been working out so hard. I'm obviously joking.

My To Do List
My number one priority this week is to archieve all my digital pictures. Another thing I need to do is print them.
The last photography class I took, the instructor said "around here we don't call it a photo until it's printed...not until you can hold it in your hands." I don't want my pictures to get lost in cyberspace. I try to back them up every few months, but here lately I've been a fierce shutterbug and haven't made it a priority.
Well, other than planning my to do list, I managed to detail the Element. I gave it a good cleaning Sunday and my wonderful husband helped me wash it in the driveway.
What else? This weekend I almost bought a treadmill. I went to a used gym equipment store and found a great treadmill with a low price. When I chatted with the store attendant he told me someone had already purchased it. After watching the Dog Whisperer, I hear that it's a great piece of equipment for dogs to use. Say I have a busy day and don't get a chance to walk Corky, then I can just put him on the machine at a low speed and watch him go. And there is no doubt that I would also use it.
Here lately, I have no need for a treadmill because the weather has been great. Three days straight Corky and have been out jogging. I love it. I had my doubts, when he was a puppy--that he wouldn't be able to keep up, but I am constantly surprised by his energy.

Beautiful Day...Birthday
Here are some pictures of Corkscrew
Today was absolutely beautiful, a drastic change from yesterdays weather. I thought it would be perfect to go jogging, so Mr. Corky joined me as I ran around the neighborhood. Now that he's older, he has the stamina to jog consistently for a mile and a half, but today I pushed him a little harder to see if he could make it to 2. I was really proud of him for keeping up with me and another part was proud of myself for keeping up with him.
Other than running around, I've been at the house enjoying some downtime. This morning Trey woke up early and asked me, "Is there something you want to tell me?" I said, "Umm, yeah it's hot outside," and then I remembered..."Oh, happy birthday." I made him some cookies at his request and also cooked his favorite meal, burritos---for lunch AND dinner. That boy loves his burritos. We also had a chance to go on a short scooter ride. That was nice. When we ride the scooter together, it always makes me smile.
FYI: We're not going to Abilene this weekend. I think we're planning a trip for next month.

In the Dog House
Corky is not on my good list. Even though he's housebroken, he pissed on my yoga mat. I scrubbed the mat with soap and water, but it still has a faint smell of urine. Gross! Before I throw the mat away, I'm going to try running it through the washer. The pee didn't stain the mat, but if I can't get the smell out I'm throwing it away.
That isn't the only reason why I'm upset with Corky. Yesterday, I swept and mopped the entire house and last night he ran through with dirty paws. So, today I swept and mopped again. I gave Corky a bath let him go outside to use the bathroom and a few minutes later he ran up to the door muddy.
