Devil's Den State Park

When we got our Airstream around mid-October, I was not sure we would even enjoy camping. I had high hopes, but I had no idea…
We have embraced this new lifestyle and we absolutely love it! Trey and I are more mindful of taking vacation and the girls have come to expect our weekend adventures.

Last week, we took our longest and farthest trip in the Airstream. We went to Arkansas for Spring Break. Our first stop was at Deveil's Den SP. For the second part of the trip, we camped at Queen Wilhelmina SP.

All the following pictures in this post are from Devil's Den State Park. This was our first time to Arkansas and we loved the landscape. We hiked almost everyday, except 2 days, due to travel and weather.

Craving Warm Weather and Family Time

I thought I'd share a little short film I made of our family at Six Flags. This is actually a new service I'm offering. I'd love for family films to become as mainstream as family portraits. Wishful thinking, but wouldn't that be wonderful? Can you imagine how wonderful it will be for the girls to have all these short films to look back on when they are adults? I'm not talking about static portraits, I'm talking about excitement you can see in motion! I showed the girls this film and I promise, Dakota watched it at least 10 times. Finally, I had to say, "Ok, that's enough."

Dakota wants to know when we will be going back. Now, I'm hungry for weekends and warmer weather. Dakota can ride a lot of the rides in the kid area, as long as I ride with her. Trey gets motion sickness on small rides, so I'm the parent who gets to have all the fun.

Spring Break at Six Flags

Trey took the day off and we spent a few hours at Six Flags. We had lunch there and the girls rode about 6 rides. The rest of the time, the played on the jungle gym. It was sprinkling when we got there, but about 30 minutes later, it stopped. We have season passes and I'm looking forward to going more often, when Cheyenne is out of school. We also have season passes to Hurricane Harbor! Is summer here, yet?

Afterwards, we went out to dinner at Olive Garden. Now, we are relaxing at home. Have a great weekend!

Soaking Up the Sun

It never fails, every time we want a group photo of the girls, Cheyenne wants no part of it. In this situation, she was extremely concerned with her hair. : /

Guess... Do you think mommy or daddy fixed her hair?

I took her down the slide...

Her face is priceless and sums up who she is...CRAZY FUN!

Too much air on this slide. WHOA, back it up!

Cause the Party Don't Stop...

Last night, these party animals stayed up until 3 am playing Jenga and LIFE. Amy and I fell asleep way before then, but they cleaned out the brownie pan and even made a special trip to Wal-Mart at midnight, to buy these two games.
LIFE
Before they hit the road, back to Abilene, they had to play another round. They had to give Trey an opportunity to win...which he finally did.

Back tracking a little:
This morning, I made breakfast for everyone. The trusty lazy susan came in handy. Bacon, eggs, biscuits and sausage. You can't say I don't know how to feed my guest. We had a great weekend visiting with the girls. We went shopping, we played, we went out with Amy for drinks, we had a ton of fun. Good weekend seeing the girls!

The Water Gardens

Trey and I had the day off of work. We enjoyed the day with my mom and sister. This morning we toured The Bureau of Engraving and Printing: U.S. Department of the Treasury (AKA the money plant). We saw so much $$$$, but we didn't leave any richer. If you are into factory assembly lines or if you like watching How-its-made shows, I would recommend the tour.

Later, we had lunch at BoomerJack's. Delicious. I got the adult panini grilled cheese served on whole wheat bread and a side of steamed veggies.

After lunch, we stopped by the Water Gardens.
