A Little Clingy

We went to church this morning and Trey went to Arlington (afterwards), leaving me alone with Cheyenne for the entire afternoon and evening. So, Chey and I have been hanging around the house, doing laundry and just having girl time. We went and sat on the porch for a while. I thought it might help, since she was so clingy. I figured a change of scenery would distract her and it did.


She is over running a fever, but I can tell her gums are bothering her, but the good news is, she is officially off the pacifier. Trey really helped me enforce and follow through with it. It's been almost 2 weeks since she last had it.

Fever for the Past Few Days

So, Cheyenne has been running a fever for a few days. Not really sure why she's feeling bad, but I'm thinking it may be related to teething. Who knows, but I do know she is absolutely lovable when she's sick. Yesterday, she napped on my chest for 30 minutes. It was nice having her so close to me--and still.

Yesterday, I called the doctors office and talked with the Nurse Practitioner and she said to continue to monitor Chey's fever and give her some fever reducing medicine. If the fever does not go down, I will have to take her in, but this afternoon her fever seems to be going back to normal.

She's happy in the video, but this morning, it was a different story. She woke up crying at 3 am. I walked over to her half asleep and gave her some medicine because she was burning up. She woke up again at 5 am hungry and just wanted to be near Trey and I, so I took her to the bedroom. She napped the rest of the morning, while I went for a 7.5 mile run.

About the run, it was brutal! 2 miles from home, my stomach started to act up and lets just say, nature was calling...No, nature was YELLING! So, I probably ran the fastest 2 miles ever to race to the bathroom. Sometimes, on my routes I spot porter potties, but this time, I was out of luck. I told Trey about it and he said he'd pay good money to see me have an accident on myself. Yeah, that's Trey talking. Here is a photo from this morning, before nature called. I've noticed all my running pictures look the same. Either way, I like sharing them with you guys.


By the way, late this morning, I drove Natasha halfway to Ranger to meet my Mom and Frank. I came home and Trey had done yard work, cleaned the kitchen and swept and mopped the floor. Brownie Points!

Football Season. AKA: Imprint Butt Checks on Couch Season

Tonight, the Dallas Cowboys play their first pre-season game in Oakland. As you can imagine, the Anderson house will be tuning in. Here is a sweet photo I took of Cheyenne and Trey, during the Hall of Fame game, Monday Night.

This year, Trey is on several fantasy football leagues. He will be busy with that all season. I'm also looking forward to this season. I'm looking forward to lazy Sunday's, after church. Coming home firing up the grill and making an imprint of my butt on the couch. Who am I fooling?....that's all Trey. Oh, football how we've missed you. Hopefully, Abilene High will be playing a few games in the DFW area. It would be nice to catch a home-town high school game.

With fall season right around the corner, I can imagine it will be easier to plan my weekend runs in the afternoon, while Trey watches the tube. On the topic of running, I'm debating whether or not to run this evening. I think I'm going to skip it, since Natasha is in town. I ran earlier this week, while she stayed behind with Trey. She said she didn't mind, but still...Okay, I've talked myself out of running tonight.

When we were all in the car, Cheyenne was making loud gasping sounds and as soon as I hit record on the camera, she stopped. So, we pleaded, begged, and even threaten her.

Sunday, while we were out, we asked Natasha to watch Cheyenne. When we got home Cheyenne was acting unusally happy and silly. Here is a little bit of what we saw. Trey insists, Natasha gave her something.

This Grilling Thing is New to Us

Our friends, Sam and Sean, blessed us with their old grill. Sean bought a new grill for his birthday and decided to pass along this one to us. Trey and I have wanted one for years, but never got around to buying one.

Last night, we were so excited to fire it up. I bought Trey and Tasha drumsticks and marinated them in BBQ sauce. I’m not a big fan of drumsticks, so I had a chicken breast and marinated it in chili powder, honey, limejuice, and cilantro. We also made a big vegetable pack. It was loaded with all kinds of veggies. Oh, and I used the Melting Pot’s: Wine and Garlic seasoning on the veggies….so good! Ladies from church….that stuff is amazing!

So, I did all the prep work and Trey did the grilling. I want him to show me how to use it, so maybe next time I can drive. Trey doesn’t usually help me with dinner, so it was nice working together to make a delicious meal.

While we were doing all that Tasha, took care of Cheyenne. I could really get use to having her around. She’s only been in town since Sunday, but she has been so helpful. I don’t even think she realizes it. If I need to pick up the kitchen or sweep the floor she keeps an eye on Cheyenne. Today, she’s even folding laundry for me. Oh, the little things that make me happy.

I still have to work, so she’ll be staying at home during the week watching TV and chatting online. Yesterday, we spent the day in Arlington. We took a campus tour at UTA and from there went and spent the rest of the afternoon at the mall. About the UTA tour, it’s never too early to start thinking about college…(Tasha). Oh, and Cheyenne was such a good girl on the tour, even though it was hot she didn’t complain too much and was very patient waiting for her diaper to be changed.

Trip to Abilene

We spent the weekend in Abilene. Trey's grandfather passed away and we went to the funeral. The funeral felt more like a celebration and reflection of his life. Trey, Brandon, and Jeremy played some praise and worship music during the service and I made a video photo album that was also played.

I mentioned Thursday, that my throat was sore, well, I was sick the entire time we were in Abilene. Today, I feel like I'm getting over it. I'm thinking it was an upper respiratory infection. Plus, I had a bad headache and I rarely get headaches, it was awful. Despite all of that, I had a wonderful time visiting with family.

Baby Brodee!

Brodee and Chey are a few weeks apart. He was so excited to play with her, that he kept poking her eyes. He didn't realize he was being rough. He just wanted to play tough like boys do.

We just got back from our trip to Abilene. I took a few pictures that I can post later, but I thought I would share this video of Cheyenne for now. It's video Trey took of her, at the house, last week.


Natasha will be staying with us for the week. Tonight we're going to a birthday dinner, so Natasha is going to watch Cheyenne for us.

Trey encouraged me to let Cheyenne stand up by herself (for more than a minute, like last time). To my surprise she did great.


This morning, I woke up with a sore throat and it's still bothering me. I really don't like to be sick, so I hope I get to feeling better soon. Besides, it's too hot outside to be sick.

Cowtown Instituting registration caps @ 6,000 for the Half

It looks like I'll need to register early for the half marathon.

The Saturday, February 27, 2010 event is instituting registration caps after record attendance of nearly 18,000 runners in 2009. The 50K Ultra is capped at 500, the Full Marathon at 1,500 and the Half Marathon at 6,000 registrants.

Yesterday, I mentioned to Trey that I would like to run a HM race before Cowtown and he said I need to make my own half and run it. I think he said that because it can get pricey running races, especially HM's. The average seems to be $60 - $80 dollars per race. Yikes! Add two or three of those races a year and that really adds up to some serious cash.

Maybe this fall, I'll set out to run 13.1 miles on my own. I might try to sucker Linda into my 13.1 fake race too.

In the previous post Serena mentioned how Gabe watches Netflix movies online. I've done that a few times and once in a while on the treadmill. Multi-tasking...I like it.

Here is a photo I snapped of Cheyenne this morning. We wake up early, before the sun rises. And Erin, her 2nd tooth has not come through yet. But she seems to be back to normal...the big thing is she's back to sleeping through the night, so that's why I think she's over it....at least I hope so.

The Worst Part is Over

I think the worst part of teething (at least for this tooth, is over). Cheyenne is back to her normal sleeping pattern and she's not as fussy.

We had a nice weekend. Saturday, I slept in, so I ran 6 miles that night. I don't like to run after the sun completely sets (for safety reasons), so next time I will stick with the treadmill. Maybe watch a movie while I do it.

Feeling Better & Trying to Pull-Up

So, here is the update:
Cheyenne had a fever that kept going up and down, but I think the worst part of the fever broke last night. At 10:30, when I was already in bed, she started. When I went to her, she was HOT and sweaty, so I took off her clothes and swapped out her heavy blanket with a lighter one. Within 10 minutes, she was asleep and didn't wake up again, until 2 am. So, I walked to the other side of the house, patted her on the back and she feel back asleep.

On and Off Throughout the Night & Nutrition Watch

Since returning back to work, Cheyenne has been great about sleeping through the night. Occasionally, she’ll cry out in the wee hours, but I don’t mind too much because typically it’s a diaper change or an adjustment. Not a problem.

That’s the way it normally goes, however last night she kept Trey and I up --off and on throughout the night. It started at 2 am. Between 2 to 4:30 am she had two feedings and one diaper change. At 4:25 am I gave her Orajel and that did the trick and by 4:30 am she was sleeping and my alarm went off to get ready for the day. Sigh.

I dropped her off this morning at Leah’s, only for Trey to pick her up a few hours later. Apparently, Chey is running a low-grade fever and Trey would rather have her at home monitoring it, in case it gets worse. Sounds like a new tooth is coming in.

On the topic of sleep:
I don’t get the recommended 8 hours each night. I usually get 6. Well, last week I decided I would give the 8-hour sleep a try. So, far it’s been difficult. Since, I’m cranking up the mileage each month with running, it’s important that I make sleep a priority. I don’t want my immune system to be vulnerable because I’m neglecting rest.

Another area I’m watching is my nutrition. It seems like with me nursing Cheyenne and adding more miles to my training, I’m so hungry all the time! I feel like I’m constantly eating and I can’t get enough. It’s annoying and embarrassing. I think I’m going to try to eat more dense foods that will keep me full. Carbs? Whatever it is I need to change something.

I just heard from Trey and he would like me to come home. Chey's not interested in eating and she's being "moody." Poor baby.

Her Personality is Shining Through

I take a bazillion photos of Cheyenne and it may seem like I post every single one, but I don't. Sometimes, when Trey and I are bored, we'll go through these pictures of Chey and have a good laugh. I've started a whole folder dedicated to the silly faces of this girl.
