Delaney Vineyard Wine Tour & Tasting

A few days ago, a client asked me to transfer her daughter's VHS wedding to DVD. I love weddings, they are so romantic. While I was dubbing the VHS, I noticed the wedding venue was at a vineyard. I immediately looked it up, Delaney Vineyard & Winery. I had to see the place.

Yesterday, Trey and I went to take a tour of Delaney Vineyard. I highly recommend going. Here are some snapshots from the tour. Oh, I got to sample FIVE wines. Delicious.

I'll take one of everything.
Sweet Texas Red was my favorite wine. It's unlike any wine I've ever tasted. I must have it. I would like this to be in my Christmas Stocking.

Here is the Wine Description: Aged in Oak, this wonderful blend of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot has a surprising sweet finish. A perfect compliment to barbecue, spicy dishes or dark chocolate. 
 
The Vineyard. Texas had a brutal summer and Delaney did not have a great harvest.

When the grapes start to bloom, the staff will place a net over the entire crop, so birds won't eat the harvest.

A wine barrel, that size would probably last me a lifetime.

Friends and family if you ever want to tour this winery, let me know. I'd love to tour it again.

From there we went to Southlake Town Square. Here is an Internet Picture of the square. It was our first time out there. Lots of upscale shops. Later, that evening we went to the Movie Tavern in the So. 7th area and watched 50/50 (so gooood). Trey and I shared a drink at the bar and watched a little bit of the Rangers game. Before heading home, we indulged in some Five Guys. Ohhhhh, burgers and fries, this must be what vacation tastes like.

So, that wraps up what we did, day one of our vaca. I'd say, we're off to a great start.

Jayvin's Party

Yesterday, we celebrated Jayvin's first birthday.


Mom, Frank, Bella, and Tasha drove to town to visit for a few hours.





Cheyenne stayed at my mom's last night. Chey called me and we talked. It sounds like she's having a great time playing with her cousins.

Trey played in the jump house. Seriously, he's like a giant child.

Va.ca.tion

VACATION: A period of suspension of work, study, or other activity, usually used for rest, recreation, or travel; recess or holiday. 


Guess, who is on vacay?! We are! 


Originally, Trey and I planned on getting away to Austin -- just the two of us. Reservations and itineraries were made, but just a few days ago, we decided to throw those plans out the window and stay in the area. But what about Palo Duro 50K Race? We are still going there! For Sure! 


At first I was bummed about canceling our Austin trip. REALLY! But now, that I found some things for us to do in DFW I'm so excited. Trey and I have only lived in FW four years. There is so much to discover. I will be a tourist in my own town. :) 


My mom took Chey to Abilene. Cheyenne will spend the next few days visiting with grandparents. So, if you see her in Abilene, give her a big kiss for me. 

Tonight, Trey took me on a date to Dallas Uptown. I loved it. I think I ran that area during the Dallas White Rock Marathon. This evening Trey and I walked about two miles and ate at Sfuzzi. We saw an army of TX OU shirts. Ewww, did you catch the game? Ugly. I didn't watch it, but I heard all about it.

Sfuzzi's had the strangest bread basket. Donuts, crackers, banana and blueberry bread. It was just so random, since it's an italian restaurant. After dinner, we watched Real Steel at Movie Tavern. Great Movie! 

Taper Snacks

First, I want to say, I took two days off from running because me knee and back hate me. I didn't even see this coming. Hey, body, get with the program, you're running an ultra in a week! 


If I recall, I'm pretty sure I felt like this right before Dallas White Rock Marathon. Tomorrow, I will test the pavement and go on my long run. 12 miles and it's a taper/long run. It'll feel like a 5K compared to the 20 milers, I've been running.


Since I'm running  less, I'm eating more -- SNACKING pretty much all the time. My go to snack, lately has been cashews. OHHHH, Cheyenne and I love them, but here is something different --- Kale Chips.

I made these the other night. I used this recipe check the link.

Rinse, wash, dry the kale. Remove the leaves from the stems.
Cut into smaller pieces. Coat with sea salt and EVOO.
Put in the over. This was preheated to 250. Let it be for 10 minutes then turn over the leaves and bake for 10 more minutes. And you're done. That's it.

They weren't over the top super duper great or anything -- but they were alright. I'd make them again, instead next time add balsamic vinegar.

My History with Apple. RIP Jobs. iSad.

As you've all heard by now, Steve Job's passed away. I read the news on my iPhone via Twitter. I'm sure many heard the news from an Apple device: iPad, iPhone, MacBook, iMac...The news, of his death is so sad. I knew he was sick, but he just retired and this is right after the iPhone 4S announcement. So sad.

My History with Apple

I was 16 when I decided I wanted to purse filmmaking. A high school friend blessed me with a used Sony  Hi-8 camcorder. I attempted to edit my short films on windows PC. I used and abused that machine, trying to make it my editing hub. After a few months, the PC had enough and wanted out, so it EXPLODED -- literally. I was editing short film featuring my little sister and the machine made a loud popping noise and a cloud of smoke erupted from the CPU. So, it was like a mini-explosion, but I prefer to say it EXPLODED because it sounds more dramatic.

My Senior year of high school, while attending Upward Bound. The director let me check out the programs iBook (claim shell). I was assigned to head-up the end of the year program video. One of my first video assignments! I was up for the challenge. I learned the in and outs of working on a Mac that summer.

Freshmen year of college, I knew I wanted to major in Electronic Media. I was not wishy-washy, I knew what I wanted and I stuck with it. That year, I made the biggest purchase, up to that point, in my life. I dropped one G on an Apple iBook G3 and everything changed. Ever since then, I've been an Apple fan girl.

I use apple products everyday. During pre-production, video production, post-production.

Oh, and I also use Apple products outside the office---EVERYDAY. EVERY HOUR.

So, does my family.

Apple products make my life easier and make me look like a video editing prodigy No? Just a few awards, that's all.

National Night Out & Free Stuff

First of all, I want to say it feels strange not having a laptop, BUT the good news is, I have a new MacBook Pro on the way. YES! I'm not sure when it will arrive. I'm hoping by next week, but that may be wishful thinking. If you've noticed I haven't been taking many photos on my Canon camera. It's just a pain trying to upload them on the other computer. So enjoy my cell phone pictures.

Have you heard about National Night Out? It's a crime/drug prevention event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch. Our community participated in it, so yesterday after work, Cheyenne and I went to the event.

The local fire and police department were there, as well as different business in the community. It felt like a big bloc party. Loud music, kids running around, bounce houses, door prizes, free food....

She may not look excited to be sitting in the fire truck, but she was. 

Chick-Fil-A had a booth. Chey and I won tickets...She got a sandwich and I got a soda. I don't drink soda, so I'll have to give that to Trey. I wish I would've won waffle fries. 

One thing I've noticed about Chick-Fil-A is they are good about giving their customers deals. I have friends who are Chick-Fil-A crazies. They'll dress their children up as cows, so they can recieve a free meal. Really.

So, this is for all the DFW chicken lovers -- from now until Friday (while cards last), Chick-Fil-A will be handing out these breakfast cards. I picked mine up yesterday. I straight-up pulled into the drive-thru, asked for my free card and drove off. I didn't even order food. Ha! While I was asking for my card, Cheyenne was yelling, "I want a burrito."

This will be a nice non-paleo - once a week in october-  treat for me. Mmmm. I got lucky and got two. I'm going to give it to Trey, so he won't take mine.

Erin is out of town, for a family matter and my girlfriends are the best for watching Cheyenne on such short notice...thanks Donna and Heather! Don't worry Erin, Cheyenne misses you and the girls. She is looking forward to going back to her normal routine, tomorrow.

Mindless TV Watching

The past few weeks, I've been enjoying TV. Who am I? Modern-day technology makes it so easy to watch -- DVR, Netflix, Hulu....I feel like I can watch everything. Okay, maybe not everything, but you get the idea.

Here are a few new shows I've started watching. I don't know if I will continue to watch them, but they got me with the initial premieres.

The next two are my favorite! I watched Modern Family and Happy Ending last season.

Happy Endings. I LOVE PENNY! It's nice to have shows to look forward to watching. This is new for me, but I'm enjoying it. What shows are you enjoying?

Extra Room Would be Nice

Not much going on here, just scratched another week off the training schedule. 2 weeks to go, until Palo Duro! I'm ready.

Crazy Hair!






Every time I use the elliptical I roll it out of the guest bedroom and park it in the middle of the living room. It works, but I want an exercise room. It would be so nice to have a designated workout room, so I could keep all my weights and equipment out at all times.

If you had a bonus room what would you use it for? Guest room? Craft Room? Game Room? Man Cave?

Garage Sale Pickings

The Peterson's had a great big garage sale and I found a few things. Usually, I could care less about garage sales, but they had some nice items. 7 dollars got me all this.

Charger Plates. They are used as decorative plate bases. I've had my eyes on them for a few years. They are usually two to four dollars a plate, but I got them on the cheap.

I've been wanting some new jewelry for a while. Well, it's new to me.

The black beaded pile to the left is a long scarf and the white piece is a thin sequence scarf. I think I'm going to use the basket for Trey's PlayStation accessories.

Do you like going garage sale shopping? I don't normally go, but occasionally see them when I'm out on a run. Sometimes I stop and browse, but most of the time I just keep running.
