Mother's Day

I hope all you moms out there had a wonderful Mother's Day. I had a good one! Chey made me a heartwarming card and Dakota gave me lots of hugs and kisses. I may have ordered an Apple watch too. Trey and the girls contributed to that gift.

 I wanted to go to church, but I worked a wedding Saturday and I was exhausted. I'm looking forward to going to church, next week! For lunch, they took me to Logan's Roadhouse (I love me some steak and sweet potatoes) and then we went to Dairy Queen.

These girls make my heart full.

Mother's Day Weekend

Happy Mother's Day!
It's been a busy weekend for me. Friday and Saturday, my camera got a workout. I took photos for several UTA graduation events. Sigma Theta Tau and three pinning ceremonies.

So, that was how I spent the majority of my weekend.

Today, I put my work aside (for the majority of the day, I still did a little editing)…
Look what the girls and Trey got me for Mother's Day.
Roses, my favorite chocolate, a weight, a bracelet and a card.

Trey got a service call, so he didn't go to church or lunch with us. Erin and Mike were in town, so I went to lunch with them.
This evening, Trey said he was going to cook me dinner and then he called domino's pizza. That is so Trey….haha. I didn't have to cook, so that was nice.

I hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day! If you are a mom, I hope you were spoiled with gifts and love.

At times, being a mother is challenging, exhausting, and selfless - but I think any mother will agree, it's so worth it.

My Mother's Day

The girls picked flowers from the garden and made me sidewalk art. Later, Trey took us all to fuddruckers for lunch. It was a great day.

A Keurig Vue is My Mother's Day Gift

It's too early, for me to start calling the important women of my life, but I will call them later. Trey and I already sent out Mother's Day cards and bought gifts for our mom's. It feels good, not waiting until the last minute.

A Beauty of a Machine
For several weeks, Trey has tried to convince me that I need a Keruig Machine. "Soon, you will have Dakota and you will be so busy, you won't have time to clean a coffee machine every morning." (I think it's more like, I don't want to, even now). I'm pretty sure Trey missed his calling as a salesman. He's sooooo convincing! Am I right? Although, Trey is not a coffee drinker, he is a hot cocoa lover and the KM makes hot cocoa, so he benefits from this kitchen appliance too.

So, if you've been living under a rock and don't know what a KM is, it's a single serving brewing coffee system. I kept saying no, no, no to Trey even with his valid selling points, but when I saw the new Vue Model, I could no longer resist. I'm glad I waited because this has some COOL features.

Before we were considering the popular B70 Keurig. It's still a great machine, but the Vue has some new features.
                 

Here is how the Vue compares to the popular B70 Keurig:

- The Vue has a Touch Screen

- Holds more water

- Has a smarter pump: different water pressure based on drink type....

- It makes specialty cafe drinks like ice coffee, lattes and hot or cold teas. It even makes frothy beverages! (that was a major selling point for me)

- Option to choose the type of beverage

- Option to brew a stronger cup of coffee

- Makes larger quantities at one time, up to 18 oz of coffee

- The Vue (cups) are recyclable 

Like the B70 it's also programmable and you can set the temperature. 

Cons: 

- I was disappointed to learn you can't use K cups, you have to use Vue specific cups. That is such a bummer because Trey's Mom has a lot of K cups, she was going to give me, if I ever bought a B70 model.

- As of today, Keurig does not sell the reusable coffee adapter. The adapter sold for the other KM models, gives you the option to use regular ground coffee, instead of cups ---- Which in my opinion is a huge $$$$ saver. The demand for the adapter is there, so I hope Keurig will start selling the adapters SOON. 

I've decided my Keurig's home will be here in the corner of the kitchen, near the pantry. What a beauty! The first cup I made was a latte. Mmm, FROTH!

My favorite coffee container is a 16 oz Starbucks travel mug. But guess what??????  
It's too tall to fit the KM!!!!!

I could stick the mug under there and have it hover like in the above picture, but that's probably not ideal. Trey suggested buying a prop. He's so smart! In the meantime, I  can use this tin. Instead of buying something, I should just have Trey make me a custom prop. Yeah, let's add that one to the honey do-list. I may be waiting a year for it. Mother's Day gift for next year?????

REALLY! What do you give women who have everything?! Hostess gifts. At least that's what I got the mothers in my life. I got them glass platters/serving dishes. Our mom's give us life and we give them gifts like hostess gifts. Life, dishes, you know...it's the thought right?    :)

Look at the giant baby on my hip. She's growing, somebody stop her!!!!!

From the pictures, you can guess, we spent the weekend in Abilene with our family. We enjoyed making our rounds and seeing everyone.

Here is a picture from Brandon's wedding. Mom with her boys. The boys look sharp in those suits and she looks so happy. We love our family and our mom's for loving us unconditionally.

Muffins with Cheyenne

Yesterday, I used a few hours of my vacation time, so I could take Cheyenne to school. It was a special day for us, Chey and I ate muffins together. We gobbled up blueberry goodness and she gave me this original painting. She was so proud of her art work. I do believe we have an artist in the making!

Right before, I took Cheyenne to her classroom, another mom was walking her son to class. I got a kick out of their conversation.
Mother: I'm so excited to eat muffins with you. Aren't you excited?
Little Boy: Noooo.
Mother: Well, I AM.

Thanks for making me tear up. Cute picture of my love + mushy quote = teary eyes. Gosh, I'm turning into my mother. haha. Love you MOM! 

Don't forget Sunday is Mother's Day, so get those cards and gifts now. Mom's out there, do you like cards? I told Trey not to buy me a card. I don't like Valentine's Day and Mother's Day cards, just tell me how you feel or write me a letter and most importantly take that money you'd spend on a card and put it towards the gift...I'm joking (only not so much). Happy Mother's Day Weekend!

Mother's Day Gift

No more using the small chopper to puree food! No more pureeing small batches at a time! I'm so excited. Thanks Trey and Cheyenne. I love it! 

Mother's Day

One of the ladies from Apples of Gold gave me this easy brisket recipe. Last night, I marinated the meat and this morning, before heading off to church, I placed it in the oven for a few hours. When we came home from church, it was practically ready. 

Easy, simple, and better than going out for lunch.

The sides were super easy too, especially since I'm still making Cheyenne's food a few weeks in advance. It's nice to have healthy options ready at a moments notice. The green beans were an organic can product, the potatoes were made in advance, and fresh farmers market greens and tomatoes.

I've also started making our ground beef and chicken in advance. So during the work week, I don't have to worry about it. It saves me anywhere from ten to forty minutes, not to mention one less pot I have to wash.
