Occupational Hazard

About Yesterday/Why I left work Early

Yesterday, I had a video and photo shoot at work. So, it was mid afternoon and I was doing my thing and my phone started to ring. I ignored it and it kept ringing and I just kept ignoring it. I didn't want to answer it because I was on the clock and I did not want to be rude to the people who volunteered to help. A few minutes passed and I heard my voicemail chime and a few seconds later I heard a text message chime. Ignore. Ignore. Ignore.

After a few minutes, I got my phone out, to review the rough cut-- that I loaded on it-- and that's when I saw the text: From Trey---I'm going to the hospital.....

WHAT?!

I called him and he explained. He was working at a store, checking a gas furnace. Apparently, the gas furnace exploded in his face. A ball of fire rolled out and burned his eyes, eyelashes and eyebrows--1st degree burns. He was able to drive himself to the ER. The doctor assured him, his vision would be fine, but gave him medicine for the burning sensation and pain. Today, he is at home, resting his eyes and taking the medicine. At first, I was scared to see him because I didn't know what to expect. He told me, he didn't completely lose his eyelashes...but they were all mangled and they will probably fall off. After seeing him, yeah I have to say he looks a little different, but his hair can grow back. We are counting our blessings and thanking God that it wasn't anything severe. He is a competent HVAC Tech and it sucks that that had to happen.

  1. I am so glad that it was not more severe. Tell Trey we are praying for his recovery. I guess he will just have to watch football all day...I know its killing him.
